Roy, I am glad you stopped. You did the right thing in asking. What could they charge you with for that? Being a concerned citizen and compassionte human being? Your conscience is clean, but the elder may be troubled with his now.

The Hooks: Which One Did You Bite?
by ezekiel3 ini have a theory that recruited jws (not those born into it) all have a specific reason why they converted.
i also believe that it is still these "hooks" that keep them going - in the face of so many facts that prove jws are ridiculously wrong.
for those who were raised a jw: was there a hook besides the negative "you will lose your life, family and friends?".

ezekiel....The answer is 1-7--all of the above. I had always been an idealistic thinker--also have always had a depressive nature and was suffering from major post partum depression at the time of initiation--was easily lead and fed at the time.

Aug 1 WT says Rutherford "Strong yet Humble"
by trumangirl ini just had to post this quote from a box on the first study article - "jehovah reveals his glory to humble ones".
august 1st 2004.. strong yet humble.
at the 1919 cedar point, ohio, usa, convention of the bible students (known today as jehovah's witnesses), 50-year-old j f rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms.

What they are saying is that what he taught and what the WTS now teaches are two totally different things. Ironically, they are glorifying what is now considered apostate
Good point elsewhere...
This is one of my latest points of argument. When I was being "counseled" by elders they were presenting me with articles from old WTs as if they were the lawbooks. But when looking up the articles I found old light articles surrounding them. So how did I know they were not old light too? So if this is the case then old light now equals apostasy....Then... old Watchtower articles should also be considered apostate literature. Better warn the JWs about this one!
Or, wait--does that make me an apostate?

Strange Exodus - Second Installment
by Frannie Banannie injuly, 1988. .
i had a dream/vision........i call it this because in many instances, the visions related in the scriptures were actually profound dreams that turned out to be prophetic in nature.
i was living in a subsidized government housing project at the time.....and i dreamed one night that i was walking down the sidewalk there from my car in the parking lot to my apartment when suddenly a small black man approached me out of the dark and stabbed me to death....(ie; i was killed by him)....instead of falling to the ground or sidewalk, i looked up to the sky.....i was searching for the lord....i expected him to "meet" me upon my death, you see.....but all i observed were dark clouds all around....clouds and more clouds.....no jesus, as expected.....when i awakened, i was puzzled....the dream had been very profound and i didn?t view it as just a dream....i saw it as predictive of something to come.....my death....but i wondered why i was still alive.....and why didn?t the lord meet me as promised in the scriptures.....somehow i knew that the little "black man" was called israel....and the clouds played an important part, too.....and i knew that the dream was metaphorical in nature......it was both metaphorical and prophetic, as things later turned out.. .

Don't know what I believe as far as religion goes--don't trust anything JW anymore. I still believe in the universal law of love (love thy neighbor) Other than that I can't be sure of anything I don't see with my own eyes.

Real 'truth' for many aging witnesses.
by Doubtfully Yours intheir mother organization fed them that the new system would be here by now.
therefore, they failed to make financial plans for today.
and, guess what?

If the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation conglomerate would focus more on the religion side of their business and less on the printing and religious literature distribution they would have more financial success and they would have an easier job of management.
This makes a whole lot of sense Gary, but remember how the WT would put down those "feel good" religions, as if feeling good was not something spiritually acceptable. I think the WT would have much more success if the WT message was of a kinder and gentler nature. It is a crime the way they twist people's minds around such a cruel doctrine of faith further weakening them as human beings.
They'll never change because their nature is all tied up in the current practices and rules. The group attracts it's target group of martyrs and defectives in addition to vulnerable reasonable people. In time the vulnerable reasonable people get past their vulnerable time and wise up and move on. The defectives stay and stay and the martyrs are actually proud of their sacrifices. They brag about their dumb decisions. They see stupidity as a virtue.

I bought a windchime and some incense--always wanted a windchime, but some JWs around here thought they may "stumble" some weak in the faith.

I going to picket my parents convention this weekend!
by Atilla inok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg.
they pretend everything is perfect at the kingdom hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation.
this weekend in philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and i have some evil thoughts.

For what it's worth an apostate planted a seed with me one year at the assembly. Her premise was the bible says there is only one mediator between God and man who is Jesus, so why are you allowing the WT to be your mediator?. After that I thought of this question every time something came up in the WT about following the direction of the "orgnanization" and leaving Jesus out of the picture.
