Wow, that above link was totally freaky...Of course of an intellectual level I don't believe it, but on a gut level I related to the story. I always had strange feelings about any of the GB or COs that I ever saw speak at assemblies or whatever. They reminded me of slimey politicians or used car salemen. Of course my WT mind tried to dismiss this, but my gut was telling me something else. I do think they look down on the R&F just as a political power/dictatorship egomaniac leader does. They truly don't care about the common person and they rape and pillage even their own people. Just think of all the dictators throughout history--some of these guys were very charasmatic , but they were also frauds and cons--not everyone agreed to follow them, but those who didn't were punished by them for not doing so. Some people were fooled and later found out what their gut should have told them all along--these people are slimeballs...

Every Sunday Nelly went to her room and had a pretend meeting. She sang "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize" at the beginning and end of each "meeting
This is not normal behaviour for a child. This story is just too unreal. Nelly is made out to be a saint, but with all of the dysfunction she was involved in during her life--Nelly is most likely to have some major issues herself. The message of this story was for the young people...
The message: "Look at poor Nelly--with all of the hardships and obstacles she endured she remained faithful to Jehovah. You think you've got problems kids? You're a bunch of wimps and losers and whatever misery you are going through is nothing compared to saintly Nelly. Now get out there and serve Jehovah and quit your complaining."
This is the disturbing part of the story for me--the message that is being conveyed by it. I don't even believe this story is true. If Nelly is a real person she may have made some of this stuff up herself. Who knows what she was doing in her bedroom on Sunday mornings? Unless there were two witnesses there (according to the WT) the real truth of a matter cannot be verified...

LET US TRY AN EXQUISITE CORPSE
by Terry inamong surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse).
based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution.
i will begin the story.

Mookie almost had to slap himself. He was trying his hardest to pay attention to Brother Dogooders talk, but his mind just couldn't stay focused on it and he kept going off into a strange daydreaming world. Maybe it was the sound of Brother Dogooders monotoned voice droning on an on and then there were all those dates 607 BCE and the times and the times and the half a times bible chronolgy thing. The Kingdom hall itself seemed to lull him into a hypnotic state--it felt rather womblike--without windows, closed off from the world and with the low hum of the air conditioner the barren walls and non-descript furniture and people, Mookie couldn't focus and he fell right back into his daydream...He just had to know what was on the other side of that wall....

Mookie awoke in a sweat. Since he had started to study with the JWs he had indeed been having some strange dreams. He wondered why his this should be the case. He had attended a few meetings now. The people were very extremely friendly and seemed to greet him with open arms. He truthfully found the meetings rather dry and unstimulating. He admittedly had expected something different. The JWs who studied with him had built the meetings up to be something akin to a group orgasm at a love fest--they had been so enthusiastic about this whole meeting attendance thing. Mookie figured there must be something wrong with him. Maybe he didn't yet have enough knowledge or maybe he didn't have "God's spirit" yet upon. Mookie was still confused, but figured he had nothing to lose by continuing to study and gain this knowlege of God that the witnesses kept telling him about. This means everlasting..taking in knowledge. Though it all seemed like a dream--what if it was true? All these people seemed to happy and sure of themselves, but there were a few things Mookie noticed that disturbed him a bit, especially last Sat when he was invited to a witness "get together" down at the lake.....

Legal Reason Why Elders Are So Corrupt
by metatron inmany of you are aware of the society's oral instructions regarding the mailed forms for disfellowshipping.. in elder's school, these instructions are given orally while the audience is told to write them in their "pay attention".
books ( elder handbook).
basically, don't say anything that links them to df'ing someone.. it may be that the society is seeking to distance themselves from the actions of local elders - or simply using that as.

You can tell the elder or elders that if they do anything then you will hold them PERSONALLY liable and that they should carefully remember that the WTS will not defend or represent them in court
If it ever comes to this I am ready and waiting with this one.
I can personally attest that the elders make their own rules and regulations because when I was going through some garbage with the elders in the congo where i used to attend I knew these thing were not right from what I had ever seen or knew from all my years as a JW. I asked why the difference and was told that they could make decisions based on what they felt was best for the congo. I contacted elders in other congos and they agreed that the elders have the right to make decisions for their congo based on what is best for that particular congo. Even though some of them were sympathetic and even horrified by what was being done in my congo none of them would defend me or even what was right and wrong, because there was no right and wrong, no unity, no justice, just a bunch of spineless men in fear of losing their positions. The CO even said that to me when I questioned him about the harshness of the things said to me. He said, "you have to understand that these brothers (elders) are under obligation to give the councel, so they did so out of fear of losing their positions"....He was trying to get me to sympathize with the elders because they had dumped on me because they were in fear of losing their positions. It was a cold slap in the face to wake up to this realization--they cared more about their positions than the well being of those in the congo.

Remember that they used to tell us that even if we had an unresponsive territory we were still giving a witness to those in the community who would see us

50-year-old J.F. Rutherford, who was then overseeing the work, gladly volunteered as a bellhop, carrying luggage and escorting conventioners to their rooms
Sounds like a great PR stunt to me.
Blondie great review as usual. You are doing a service here posting these reviews. You barely need to read between the lines on the WT articles these days--their teaching ar so obviously ridiculous these days. Seems like almost every week now there is an apostate warning in the WT.
What struck me today is the emptiness of it all. What does this article really teach anyone? The words are empty and meaningless. the faithful JW has wasted a good 2 hours of his life on this unstimulating meaningless drivel (an hour study at home and the hour it takes at the KH). And, what did they come away with? Being humble means obeying the Org -- beware of anyone who does not and view them as apostates. Nothing about loving your neighbor, how to care for the sick and needy, how to be a friend--enlightenment...The WT is truly a spiritual wasteland...

Lately I have been feeling like "apostates" are running the watchtower.
XQ--During the final part of my WT daze (days) I kept flashing on this. It was like the WT was fitting the definition of apostate that tthe WT had programmed into my mind over the years. They were turning into an obvious Pharidisaic (Is that a word?) system before my eyes. Admittedly they were like this all along, but were becoming so obviously more so that I was forced to see the whole thing for what it was. In the end they became so obvious to me.
The scripture that was flashing in my mind through all of this was Matthew 23:23 &24
23"Woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! because you give the the of the mint and the dill and the cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law, namely justice and mercy and faithfulness. These things it was binding to do, yet not to disregard the other things.24 Blind guides, who strain out the gnat, but gulp down the camel!
I also thought a lot about the bible's 2 greatest commandments to Love of God and neighbor (not a WT teaching) How can you show love for you neighbor if you aren't even supposed to associate with them and also should be viewing them as wicked.
The scripture "they would have no natural affection" came to mind when the elders in my congo and CO told me that they had a concern for me becoming attached to any grandchildren that my daughter may have--being that she was an unbeliever. If I did become attached to the grandkids my heart might become divided towards the Org (knowing that they would die at the big A. Overseers words "The elders and I have this concern for you if there are ever any grandchildren out of your daughter's marriage you may become attached to them." He then went on to tell me how he had to emotionally detach from his "unbelieving family" so he woudn't feel so bad when they died at the big A...
After my whole WT experience I don't know what in the heck I believe about the bible or God or anything spiritual, but I did study the bible long enough to know the WT does not practice what it preaches in regards to much the bible has to say and if you were going to judge the WT Org by the book--apostate would be a fitting description...
