  The WT's muffled message: Where's the ``Good News of the Kingdom" in This?

  it's been commented on several times on this forum, but it would seem that the billions of hours lavished by jws in purportedly getting their message to the public has been a dismal failure, at least if measured by the extent to which they've been able get their core beliefs (i.e., god's kindom has been established invisibly in 1914 and you had better get with our program or face annihilation -- and soon) -- across to the public.

  take a look at some of the front-page titles of this current year's magazines (especially the awake!

  which most jws like to feature in preference to the wt) and ask yourselves: where the !#!%!

  Soon the vast majority of mankind will be destoyed including innocent children and saintly humanitarians. they will lie as manure on the ground and the birds from the heavens will come down and pick the flesh off of their bones. After that a small handfull of uneducated survivors will have a huge mess to clean up and in the meanwhile will have to figure out how to live without the convieniences of the modern world. Soon after that a bunch of people from the past will come back to life and they will have to explain to them all that has happened since they died and then give them the choice of dying again or spending endless hours reviewing old WT literature (SEE ABOVE ARTICLE TITLES), as there will be no means of shipping out any new literature. This is the GOOD NEWS?

  It has to be the truth because of the huge increase. Joe Hoba is really making it grow in these end times.

  Or ....Oh no, could it be that the numbers of bible studies are down because it truly is the time of the end and the ark door is beginning to close! (A JW brain in denial)

  My last District Convention (I hope) ... observations

  so last weekend was my last district convention.

  i plan on breaking the news to my wife real soon.

  nowadays even at the meetings my blood pressure raises and my back gets all tense as i sit and listen to some of the stuff we are supposed to believe.

  This was highlighted with the drama that everyone marveled over... how Timothy had "no regrets" of choosing the full-time ministry over college and a lucrative business career with his friend and how he was blessed.

  Talk about going beyond the things written... Many of the young JWs I knew are in college or getting ready to go to college--so what does this mean for them? More pressure and guilt--poor kids.

  Here in Hawaii the old missionary spirit is still strong and in my old congo the women dressed liked pilgrims. It's not the natives who are strict but the houlies (white guys) from the mainland who enforce the rules. The even found the JW attitude towards the native people here felt prejudice at times. A comment I heard more than once was "the problem with the Hawaiian people coming into the truth is that they are too close to their families." The elders here are quick to enforce any new rules real or perceived--there is much mention about the evils of too much recreation. It is especially hard on the young people here do not fare well and the majority are knew were eventually Dfd. the JW rules and regulations seem to be even more restictive than on the mainland and are very contrasting with the tropical lifestyle, which is generally more relaxed.

  Even in the hottest weather men have to wear suit jackets when on stage or handling the microphones. Men always wear a tie out in service. Spaghetti straps and sundresses are frowned upon for women. And despite the refreshing tropical breezes the KH where I attended had no windows, but frigid air conditioning and I eventually had to resort to bringing a blanket to the meetings.

  the land of aloha is definitely full of fuddy duddy dubs.

  Is it morally OK to try to free people from the WTS and how?

  i have some serious questions here.

  i am still a jw but fading away slowly.

  still have some privileges etc, but that will not be too long i suppose.

  yeh, it's full circle here. someone has to put a kink in the chain somewhere along the line in order that more people don't get hurt. Like I said before I am especially concerned about the children--they have no voice--they have no choice, but are forced into a belief system that is most likely harmful to them in the end (if the percentages leaving are 85% then they are doomed to being shunned by their families in the end) and this is very devastating to them. I don't like the idea of taking people's hope away, but if it is a selfish hope that is harmful to their children--then what?

  Wow, it's hilarious but all so true. I didn't notice unbelieving mate though, so here's another one for you.

  Unbelieving mate: A person who is rarely seen, but only shows up at the occasional JW picnic. Married to a JW believer. 99.9% chance the believer is a women. Because of the women's position of being married to one of Satan's seed she is viewed as of a lowlier class in the congregation. Though she is expected to respect and obey his commands and love him as her own body she is also supposed to praying for the day when Jehovah comes and destoys all wicked people including him.

  Loaded question here...and one I have contemplated to death, as I do know people in there who are so disfunctional they may not survive in the outside world--this worries me and makes me feel responsible for breaking their bubble. But then again if nobody ever speaks out about anything that is corrupt and wrong then where would we all be?

  What people believe is of no consequence to me. If you want to worship a pile of rocks and pray to those rocks--fine--you aren't hurting anyone doing so. but if you start making it a practice of throwing those rocks at people that is a different story.

  If the WT was just a harmless belief system then I could let it go. But it is not. People sacrifice their precious time and their children's lives to it. People die because of it (blood doctrine) and families are destroyed because of it (Df-ing doctrine.) I have seen so many people suffer because of this religious organization. It is mostly the children that concern me. They have no choice in the matter. Some have lost their lives because of this religion--some will lose their families. That is the worst thing about it to me.

  Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W

  the local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.

  but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.

  they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

  Hmmmm.

  Maybe I will turn this question around on them and say "the important question here is do you really believe that this is God's organization?

  (they will probably then answer "of course")

  and then I will say "then why are you asking me?"

  Maybe if I continue on in this mode and never give them any answers, but only questions I will frustate them until they go away.

  Does being a JW make a person physically sick?

  definitely mentally and more than likely physically.. i have read on a few posts and freeminds about an increase of mental illness amoungst jws of between 2 and 40 % and it seems understandable considering the amount of stress being in the borg puts on people.. but what about physically?.

  what are your experiences since leaving the borg?.

  do you feel well and fitter than ever before?.

  even when you are on vacation you aren't supposed to relax. Remember they would tell us that being on vacation doesn't mean being on vacation from Jehova?. Even when you were sick or in pain you were told the story of others who were worst off than you but still attended the meetings. I found the WT pressure to be constant and permeating every aspect of my life. This was not the religion that Jesus christ was preaching about--the one that would lighten the load of its followers.

  I believe that the stress of the bOrg makes people ill.

  AMen. Plus, Subconciously, people want to stay home... lol.

  YES Lots of autoimmune disease among the people I knew. It's the stress--I always got migraines before assemblies--I really didn't want to go--I knew that, but I thought there was something wrong with me that I didn't. My daughter's friend alway threw up before assemblies. I think that most people don't find going to the KH or assembies the a joyous occasion we were supposed to and and think there is something wrong with because they don't.GUILT GUILT GUILT Thinking back when I was really sick I was in a way relieved because I didn't feel guilty knowing I had a legitimate excuse to stay home. Fr the first year I stopped going to meetings I felt unwell every Tues and Thurs night and Sunday morning. I had extreme anxiety even though I knew I no longer consciously believed the WT org--kind of like it was programmed into me. I know many are struggling with their conscious and subconscious minds. Being a JW is like being in the twilight zone--half asleep and not in full control of who you really are--which causes a lot of disfunction and discomfort with ones self cybs
