Okay, this is just weird, but what do you think?
by spiritwalker inokay this is really off the wall, or maybe i am reading to much religious history and sci-fi publications, but this had me wondering last night and i had to post it.
i was reading some information lately on how ancient people might have viewed alien visitation in their lives.
many people figure that this might be something viewed as gods and perhaps some of the legends or even the highest religious books, are based some visitations from other worlds.

Have you found that Witnesses........
by ARoarer inare not on the minds of "wordly" people at all?
when i was a jw, i believed the jw speak that non jw's were preoccupied with thoughts of persecuting, us or whatever.
the wt has members believing they are the center of the universe and all the world is intent on watching them.

I totally agree...I have thought of that several times since I left. I was even afraid that people who weren't witnesses who knew me as a witness would think about why I was not being a witness anymore. But I found out that nobody thinks twice about someone quitting their "church" it is not big deal at all to them--so you just got tired of it or whatever and moved ahead onto something else. It is that whole stumbling thing that we were brainwashed into thinking--that whatever we did as witnesses would be viewed by the world as we were spectacles to the public...but now i found out they didn't think about it much at all...

don't know what happened to my post last night, but it was in total agreement with Bluesbrother's comment:
God , that brings back painful memories of having to stretch these boring articles intoa meaninful 20 minute discussion on a Thursday night. "Assembly reminders" were the worst .
One of the last comments I ever made was on a Thurs night during one of those mind numbing 15-20 minutes talks. This gem was on "keeping our kingdom hall clean". Everything that was said about this subject could have been said in about a minute and a half, but the elder had to drag it out for the whole duration and it was difficult for him and the audience, but guess this could be a part of the whole endurance thing that all JWs must suffer.
The talk was about as interesting as a piece of damp kleenex, but we trudged on, as we were all taught to endure to the end. The audience sat there in their usual trancelike thurs night state, brought on by a long hard day at work or in service, a rushed meal if you had time to eat at all, showering and dressing up, driving over to the KH and then finally sitting for a couple of hours listening to someone drone on about nothing. The elder was asking for some comments about bathroom cleaning. A hush went through the hall and we all sat there in suspended animation. Suddenly I was struck with an inspiration!!! I had read an article somewhere about bathroom cleaning and it mentioned that the most overlooked, but sometimes the dirtiest part of the bathroom is the toilet flushing handle. My hand shot up and I gave my comment sounding very scientific. It was brilliant--I felt proud--the elder nodded his head with approval and others in the audience seemed very impressed that I had known such a profound factoid. It was indeed the most interesting comment during that whole talk--probably during the whole meeting. When I thought about this later I thought, my god what in the world have I come to?
I think this was the last comment I ever made at a KH. This occured in the the final part of my kingdumb daze...

What One JW Belief Could You Never Totally Accept???
by minimus infor me it was that god will destroy billions of innocent children simply because their parents weren't jehovah's witnesses.....and you??

freedom96...
I agree I never bought it either--even in my most rabid JW daze I always thought there would be others who would be saved as there were too many unanswered questions--like what about all those people in china and countries that have never heard the word? what about retarded people or mentally ill people or senile or physically ill people or people who are born not totally man or woman? what about people who are truly christlike caring for the needs of others--doing social work and donating their time, energy and money to help others who are in need? what about people who I really loved and cared about who were not JW?
but while the WT did say that only god could judge hearts it also said only those who were baptized JWs are the ones that will be saved....double speak/double think again
It also says in the brochure--believe the title is What do Jehovah's Witnesses belief--the question therein is asked "Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they are the only ones to be saved?" This is also on the official WT website and the answer to that question appears to be NO they don't believe that they are the only ones to be saved. BUT any JW reading this knows it is a trick question and the answer is YES, because this is only talking about the ressurected ones that will be brought back after the big A. The rest of mankind will have been destroyed unless of course they are baptised JWs in good standing still serving actively serving the Org...
Sometimes I feel totally insane for ever being a part of this Org...

you can coat a cast iron fry pan with a cut potato if you are out of grease and want to make some pancakes. You can slow cook a pot of beans if you bury it in your compost pile on a warm day (old flashbacks from mother earth news before they turned into a slick paged mag)
