  For some reason I keep on showing up at this thread--can't seem to stay away from it--a lot of energy generated around this one.

  FlowerI know your comments were sincere and I understood what you were saying.

  I think many of us still react to things that flash us back to our JW daze.

  But remember we are all on the same side now--no one more or less--we are all considered by the Org to be wicked evil apostates--the poor X-elders are probably considered even more evil than the former R&F, because they were in once in that elevated position given to them by the Org.

  But seriously now, I think a lot of us are still hurting here--many of these X-elders have lost their family and friends too. They were also used and abused by the Org in many of the same ways as the rest of us.

  So, hugs and sympathies all around...

  No sex or marriage for Great Crowd

  hello folks,.

  the watchtower has promised a special group of people that they will have sex, marriage and children in the new earth.

  no resurrected person will have these privileges because you have to live through armageddon to get the privilege to procreate.

  Haven't thought of this one in quite a while, but come to think of it I knew some who believed this.
  There was one sister who hated having sex with her husband and couldn't wait until the new system when we wouldn't have sex anymore. Anyway, I didn't believe this to be true myself, but there were some strange viewpoints around this subject and it was one that was not spoken of too often. Like a lot of the other nonsense subjects I filed it in the back of my brain in the denial file cabinet

  Witnesses Are Always Made To Feel They're Not Doing Enough

  one way the watchtower gets into people's heads is by making them feel that they're unworthy, not good enough, inferior.

  " that is the chant of circuit overseers and elders all around the world.

  nobody could keep up the pace that the watchtower has given its followers.

  They even discouraged us and made us feel guilty when we were ill. Even when you were at home sick you had to feel guilty that you weren't at the meeting. People would actually drag themselves and their children to the meetings when they were very ill. I hated it when I would sit near someone or their kids who was coughing their heads off all over me for a couple of hours knowing that I would probably catch their crud too. I always out of courtesy stayed home when I was sick, but then I would be made to feel guilty by others who would start questioning if you happen to have the flu and would be away from the meetings for longer than what the JWs thought was normal sick time. One time I had major surgery with complications --I wasn't doing very well--very wiped out and home in bed for a few weeks recovering. My daughter came home upset and told me that one of her friends had said that her mother didn't think I should be away from the meetings for as long as I had. She said that another sister had similiar surgery and she was back at the meeting after about a week! My daughter actually teared up when she told me this--she knew how sick I was and was upset by the unsympathic comments.

  The last circuit overseer who spoke at my former cong was very unsympathetic. He stood up there and ranted on about how so many complain they are tired and sometimes not able to attend. He was not sympathetic, but pretty much said we should drag ourselves to the KH no matter what--our life depended on it. Does that sound like GUILT?

  This topic is most definitely a triggering one...

  A couple of days ago I attended a "get together" (not at a KH). Long story but it was necessary for me to show up there for a few minutes to say goodbye to someone. This is the first contact I have had with a group of JWs in several months and I was very nervous about going. I only stayed for about 20-30 minutes. Very few people spoke with me, but when i saw the elders (who were much the instigators of much of my pain before I left) I began to feel ill and my head started to pound. The triggers are still there, though I didn't expect them to be so strong. I loathed being around these men and I don't ususally feel that way about anyone. So, while I still am glad that the X-elders here are making themselves known and I do admire them for that and understand that many of them are healing themselves from their experience it the Org-..I think it is good that they make themselves known because I feel it adds more clout to this site, especially to impress newly exiting ones-- but I still understand the triggers--believe me I understand.

  i was wondering if anyone could tell me how a jehovah's witness service goes.

  what is different from a run of the mill methodist or baptist service?

  are there things that are specific to a jw service?

  Hi Skeason,

  Thought I'd through my 2 cents in here. Just a bit of heads up, If you do go to a meetings--you may be "love bombed." This is usually what happens to new victims people when they first attend the meetings. But keep in mind that these people honestly believe that you, not yet being one of them, are still considered to be bad association. In fact, they truly believe that God will violently destroy you unless you become one of them. They also believe that God could charge them with being bloodguilty if they do not try to convert you, thus the desperate smiling and handshakes all around. There are some nice people there who are trying to be good, but are burdened and loaded with guilt and shame because they can never be good enough for the WT. JWs are a cultish religious organization that burdens it's followers with a plethora of rules and regulations while they suck their souls out, destroy their families and take their money. Watch out for the Watchtower.

  The need for exiting witnesses to see that so-called "mature christians", people vested deeply into the WTBTS, have chosen to leave, is very real. The need for exiting witnesses to see and take part in reducing the "stars" down to human proportions, is very real. Elders were central to the hell most of us went through as witnesses (while not the architects of our torture, they were the hands-on inquisitors) and the need for exiting witnesses to yell that from the rooftops is very real.

  When I first found this site I was excited there was something like this out there and told my daughter about it (we exited at the same time). I told her that there were that were many others who have left too because of their bad experiences and insights into the Org. I told here that even former elders and overseers and bethelites were here and telling their stories--this impressed her and she wanted to hear more. That is good enough for me.
