I recently did the same with my pc. first went the power supply pffff. so i bought a new one, more wattage too, with XP pro.
then, I got crazy and bought a new 19" monitor, 512mb ddr RAM, creative labs 5.1 sound card, Panda antivirus (very seamless and a low resource user), new 56k modem, canon fax/printer/copier/scanner and thats about it for now

i'm not sure about mine, but for a while i was wanting to buy the "video nag".
it was a $10 vhs tape, featuring 23 minutes of some ugly hag continually bitching.. btw, this is a recycled post.

my mother told me that a regular pioneer in his 60's from a nearby hall questioned how we could be sure 1914 was the date christ was enthroned as king of the kingdom.
he questioned the brother conducting the meeting for field service.
it didn't go well......he left that hall and is reported missing in action!
I'm afraid somehow that the wts is cleverly manipulating the information to decrease awareness and knowledge of the basic 1914 claim and especially the tie to 1918 as when they were found 'approved' by Christ out of all of Christendom. Of course, this doesn't explain that virtually nothing changed in the org for many yrs after that date like christmas, cross etc. so how could this be?
Thus, I think this will not be the thing to bring them down...perhaps nothing will do it totally...i agree people WANT to believe its the 'truth' and so there they are...going back even.

the organization collectively owns a lot of property.
however, i believe they are thinly 'financed', if you will.. since contributions have sagged so badly in recent years, it leaves them vunerable to many different factors.. for one thing, i think that the organization was strongly protected from lawsuits by witnesses - or their relatives.
because such a thing was considered unthinkable, something you didn't do.
possible....we'll see
can anyone give anything concrete about donations being and worldwide attendance being down. I've seen it here is BC canada but mostly one lone guy's observation...

my mother passed away in february.
she was a pioneer for 40 years and steadfast in her jw beliefs to the day she died.

the purchase price for the 12-story building, at 360 furman st., was not disclosed.

Since I do not feel being part of the wts is no more a privilege than standing in front of a firing squad, the answer is obvious.
However, I agree with ignorance is strength that it is a good thing bringing true reward to assist others although I wouldn't call it a privilege, more like a noble endeavour which brings rewards to both the giver and receiver, whereas

AlanF - I haven't researched it, but I heard there was something out there that debunked the wts debunking effort of the Nazi meeting hall 'scandal'. Looking forward to his new book. Can you tell us any more about other things that will be in it? I just ordered his 'other' book from commentary press the other day.
I guess it was bound to happend that the wts would p off the wrong people in the wrong time period - ie, the information age and said people would have no problem returning in kind the treatment they received.

Ruby - baptized at 15 which basically meant I could answer some q's in a 'disorganized' book but I didn't have the life experience or 'accurate knowledge' of the lying wts to helping me make an 'informed' decision. I was born into a jw home and raised with one viewpoint and one set of beliefs - no different than the accusing finger pointed by jws at people of other religions who are born catholics, baptists etc.
Then I learn much later in life cuz people don't like to talk about it cuz it's 'negative', that there is no acceptable way to leave 'Jehovah's' organization and this is a real crock showing all too well it is a very unhealthy mind-controlling cult to say the least. Far better it would have been for me to be an average 'worldly-person' free to associate at least somewhat with my beloved family, then an outsider labeled an 'apostate' for jeece sake.
Yer new here - WELCOME to JWD! Don't take my words too harshly but just in case yer wondering YOU could just as easily be labeled an APOSTATE for being here consorting with disassociated and disfellowshipped people.
