  how do you think people view you on this forum?

  some have met in satanic "apostafests" and may have got the measure of each other more clearly, but how do you think others view you?

  i got a rough idea how others see me by now......how bout you?

  heh heh scoob, it was a JOKE and a cheap one at that confusing you and bb.

  secondly, i'm not ready now (if ever) to post a 'what does everyone think of boa?' thread - simply not my style and no offense meant to anyone else who may do that (snick snick).

  not in the least worried about what others think of me here (unless its something really bad and due to a misunderstanding or something)....I don't think I'm any more 'special' than anyone else really, although, like everyone else, I have unique qualities and abilities others don't have and similarly others have which I don't possess....

  so...I must apologize a bit since I am not interested in truly answering your original thread nor partaking in soliciting others to comment on me OR for me to dare to state what I think they think of me....

  really though, i've just escaped a self-important religion that taught me to be overly self-important and worry SO much about 'what others might think', so I am on a new course of not really being too gd worried about it thank you very much....

  i recently gave up studying with the witnesses after they told me off for going sailing with my family!

  what a crock!

  i said it was the easter long weekend and i needed to get away for a few days on the boat.

  i don't want to have anything to with it, it makes my skin crawl.

  i don't want my daughter to be exposed to relgion in any form.

  Ditto for what DanTheMan said for me.

  I will do my darndest to prepare my children to avoid handing over their lives and or money to any religion or other organization that they don't fully understand and realize its purpose.

  I wasn't taught to think critically either as a born in it dub, but some rational, reasoning part of me plus a titch of honesty and courage got me out after 3 decades - sheesh.

  if you had the opportunity to help a person understand the jehovah's witness religion, what would you make sure they understood about the "truth"?

  One thing I would do is inform an up and coming newb jw about the actual baptism questions, especially #2 and how it was 'simplified' in june 1985 to more clearly indicate loyalty to a earthly organization and that because of that, they can simply disfellowship you for virtually any reason they want to and, for example, the laws in a country like the US basically respect the right of a religious group to discipline and manage their own, and furthermore, YOU WILL BE THEIR OWN after baptism.

  Then, I would give them their own gift-wrapped copy of Crisis of Conscience.

  Running into JW's

  this past week i met an old friend for coffee - she's a x-jw also but still in the trap of thinking they are the "truth" - in fact, she's trying to get reinstated, but that's another topic i'll leave for another time.. as we were having coffee 2 car groups of jw's came in for their service break.

  her reaction was obvious to me that she felt uncomfortable with them there.

  as i was noticing her reaction i thought of the stages i have gone through since i was df'd.. at first i was embarassed and ashamed when i would run into jw's somewhere.

  dawn - glad to hear you are doing well now. I believe the power lies with those outside the org - what you see when a big group of them are around is more a pack type 'strength' in numbers.
