  the recent superstition thread got me to thinking.

  growing up i was terrified of "demons".

  sometimes when we would have witness gatherings they would start in to "demon" stories.

  Great thread Chevys....I find this topic interesting though I've never had any demon experiences myself in over 30 yrs of dubbiedom.

  El Kabong: I almost thought I was having my FIRST demon experience reading this thread. I had the BeeGees 'One Night Only' playing on my pc (they're demonized aren't they? Disco = baaaaad demon music) when I all of a sudden I heard this erie music start to play over top of the BGs! I was a bit spooked actually, not really sure if I was hearing properly it was kind of a subtle undercurrent of spooky music. So I thought to myself, SELF! Pull yourself together! I then checked my other open windows and realized that your 'demon buster' website also has a song that downloads and plays! Sheeeeyte! I had a lil' chuckle then!

  BTW....that website El Kabong says this on the front page:

  Those true life stories in the mags

  those life stories of bros and sis's in the awakes and wts were always very inspirational and encouraging to me when i was in the borg.

  everyone enjoyed reading them.

  now i realise that these experiences would have been censored and edited for maximum affect on the readers.

  It was those darn life stories and experiences that helped me through my first cognitive dissonance with da troof back in the early 90's - GRRRR

  I read and read and read them....including past year books until I was motivated enough to start reg. pio. again in the mid-90's - ACK!

  Jeez, I feel like a real heel now....all those years riding the emotional roller coaster of org propaganda

  Can some one explain how 607 is wrong

  the watchtower and many others claim something happend in 607. this is based on the idea the bible is acurate.

  the watchtower states in a few places 586 is the "real date" but they would make the bible wrong which is a no no.

  i know they have a vested interest in 607. i can't figure out why is this such a controversy.

  XQ, once again I've enjoyed yer surreal approach to all things jw.

  I have read COJ's GTR and am convinced as much as anything can be convincing about the hole the society is in with their crazy patchwork chronology. I've seen picture frames repaired with duct tape stand up and look better than their dating of 'times and seasons'.

  I've become much more interested in the fascinating historical record of this religion now. Since it is a dead religion in effect, regardless of how alive the great fallen tree may still appear, to me its only value is an interesting study in apolcalyptic sects and the size they can achieve with the gullible human mind (mine was one too).

  I wonder what the next supergroup/organization will be to make it big THIS century. Likely it has already started.

  I've got a case of permanent fade. But while they weren't lookin', I went out and got a shiny NEW paint job, and the witnesses who knew me wouldn't recognize much anymore.....It suits me to play a bit of a game with this, except them damn mags still get dropped off at my house whether I'm there or not....

  I'm almost too lazy to call the magman or current po whoever the hell they are to get them to STOP the mag and km's. We havent' been to meetings in months, service in years! WTF do they think I care about this shit? I threw the latest rather large stash of mags from where they were put inside our door by some sis's, straight into the woodstove to reduce next winter's heating costs!

  Yes, unfortunately, at 15, just after the June 1985 change in the baptism questions - damn!

  I knew something wasn't right in dubbiedom when at bethel in the late 90's. Slow fade which I thought was just 'time to figure troof out so as to get back into it' became outright rejection of it all Feb 04

  often peoples thoughts of cornwall in times gone by are of swashbuckling pirates and other such things.

  certainly these activities used to go on a great deal even to the point where lights would be hung on lanterns on clifftops during storms to lure ships to their fate on the rocky shoreline below, then to plunder the ship of it's goods, the ships captain obviously believing that the lights signified a safe anchorage.. ---.

  they say that everything starts with ideas.. now this is only a semi serious post, but i just thought, i would post it for schenalligans fun to see others responses.. piracy in the modern world is as much a serious threat today as it was in times gone past.

  hmmmm, how would I defend something longer than a football field, several stories high, dozens of feet wide?

  why, with duct tape actually.

  really, think about it. First you duct tape the whole damn ship cuz the light gray will be just like the navy colour used - its hard ot see the thing against water.

  now, defensive weapons would be sensor touch pads that instantly released hundreds of rolls of duct tape off the ship. Thus, when the shockwave in front of an incoming missile hits the sensor pads, the duct tape launchs and encapsulates it, then shoots away from the ship. The resultant contained explosion actually turns into an awesome sticky mass that hits the attacker rendering them complete useless and immobilized as well. This allows YOU to go on over and raid/pirate THEIR ship - MUHAHAHAHAHA

  the beauty thing about this is method of defense/attack is that if they ever do implement it - BUY shares in 4M right away! YOU'LL BE RICH!

  Pit Bull dogs

  i want to start a discussion about pit bull dogs.

  i live next door to a new neighbor who owns an american pit bull dog (also a female of the same breed that's just given birth to three pups).

  when i'm in the owner's presence the dog allows me to pet him, but when the owner isn't present the dog acts extremely fierce to the point that i'm scared of him.

  Do you believe in psychics?

  hi there everyone, just wanted to see if any of you believe in any psychics or paranormal activity.

  i know that as a jw we are taught that any ghosts are demons and any psychic activities are demonized.

  would love to hear any feedback and or any pesonal experiences you have had and if you believe they are all demons, or if there is a difference between good and bad spirits.

  OH, you mean the the other p word.....psychics....oops

  No, don't 'believe' in that stuff, if you mean I need some 'faith' that it is 'true' so I can 'believe', but am open-minded to any 'proof' available. I believe the human mind has a few unexplained tricks left to it, but like a flashlight to a pygmy, these are not miraculous nor magical - only need some cold hard science to wrap it up in a box and shelve somewhere.
