  what does it matter how we live?

  i was reading ecclesiastes 1 -3 today(excerpt is from chapter 2)..... and i'm not a bible scholar and dont claim any wisdom... but these scriptures seem to just say you live and you die regardless of who or what you do in life.

  its all vanity...... is this the true wisdom of the bible?

  that we exsist not by or for any reason.. we just exsist then we die..... end of story?

  candidly...I concur with you totally....It was this book, which is my favourite from da bible actually, that, while reading at bethel, really was the beginning of the end of my sick love affair with the wts, and in the end, with gawd...

  If we are here by chance or an impersonal gawd, then all else is moot....and just a 'nice to do' for other people...its all about continuation of the species and if that fails, then who cares?????? The universe sure as hell doesn't! Anything else is pure emotionalism which is unreliable at best and plain ol' foolhardy at worst.

  I relish this belief for its rawness, realism, and feel that ol' king Sol knew it as well...good on 'im for showing it to me...the horny ol' bastard!

  We have season one and two on DVD and watch it over and over

  Don't forget J-ROC!

  Well it could take pages to describe how great see is!

  Since we don't have pages, I'd like to say that see is likely one of those people who was nice as a dub and as an ex-dub.

  She supports gawd knows how many of us behind the scenes and has been here from the start of when I got to JWD.

  have you somehow attempted to prove this to yourself or have you just accepted it?

  I do not. I have yet to read the volumes of information out there supporting its lack of inspiration (still finishing up all the Franz, Jonsson, Penton books lol), however, what I have read on this site and a few others contains the 'ring of troof' to me....Perhaps this is because its what I want to believe to justify my lifestyle (very NON-religious) or perhaps it is that I apparently am not capable of FAITH. One's assumptions reveal so much about what one believes (thank garybuss for teaching me that!).

  I reject the emotionalism and 'leap' it takes to have faith. It is an unreliable, unquantifiable and indescribeable idea IMO. To believe the bible is the inspired word of God, or parts of it even, requires the elusive idea of faith and as stated I have none in anything that is not somehow explainable by science and reason whether existant now or to be discovered in the future.

  JC....that has got to be your shortest post ever! Good one! Kudos!

  There is no doubt that release from the bonds of the wts crazy mind-control, repressive, backwards lying two-bit ways has led me to the happiest time of my life....Sure there is all the usual stuff life brings both good and bad, but it doesn't touch the intense joy of mental freedom....

  I take every day and moment as special and don't feel even a teensy bit worried or concerned that I have no religion, faith or belief in a personal god, perhaps in any god at all....(jury still out on that one)

  Jgnat...I love the thinking, detail, and effort you've put into this thread.

  Please, define/quantify/describe/communicate to this non-believer what 'faith' is.

  If you or someone else has already done this elsewhere, please give me a link.

  Once I figured out my logical, observational jw 'faith' wasn't what others call faith, I was really messed for I didn't know what it was.

  I really want to know gnatster, it could mean a lot in my life.

  in conclusion, the final part of the days is a concluding period of time, exactly as the expression implies, during which jehovah disciplines and refines his people and afterwards brings the world into judgment with himself.

  contrary to the watchtower's teaching, the world-ending finale known as the final part of the days has not commenced yet.

  i'm not going through his tiresome essays, once again, but his latest has come to exactly the same conclusion that all the others have: watch out!

  i was talking to a work associate the other day.

  i referred to someone as not being da'd or df'd.

  he paused, chuckled, and said he had never heard that term before.. he has been an elder for twenty years.. i related the story to my wife, and she suggested that maybe those terms are "apostate" and not circulated around the hall.
