Another lie about ex-JWs: they alter material

i saw this comment recently, and it brought back memories:.

apostates will get a-hold of one of their videos and "alter" it in some way to make the watchtower look bad to the public.. this is one of wt's biggest false flags, the lie that 'apostates' will alter published content or recordings to say something that makes them look bad.

outside of obvious satire, i'm not sure this has ever happened.

Vidiot, another example is many JWs blamed 'Apostates' for inventing a false story, writing a letter on a copy of fake UN letterhead and even hacking the UN website when it was revealed that WT had been signed-on with the UN as an NGO.

Although JWs claimed WT would NEVER associate with the UN, many quickly backpedalled and rationalised reasons why that was OK when it was verified that WT had actually done so.

Once WT provided the lame excuse of needing a library card, many JWs then adopted that as the valid reason, without further thought or consideration to their earlier denials or accusations against apostates.

Finkelstein, I expect WT recognize full well the accusations of Ex and never JWs.

Lett and other GB member's choice of wording is a method to further poison the words of non-JWs, so active JWs will be more prone to close their ears to criticisms, so they will be less likely to consider the accusations might have some merit.

One positive of this type of accusation is, the JW is actually acknowledging the questionable comment, information or view is 'wrong' and a contradiction to that which is proper for Christians.

Once the material's source is proven to be WT, the JW then will typically make excuses to rationalize and defend WT's position on the matter.

'Apostates' do not need to invent or alter WT material to make it appear un-Christian. WT does a good job of that without outside influence.

Subliminal Messaging

for over 20 years subliminal pictures showed up in most books, wt, and awakes- eighties, nineties and into 2000's.... demons, gods, you name it-- .

question: is anyone seeing anything like this in todays publications?

I can recall similar hidden images being a topic among some JWs over 40 years ago. I expect WT artists from back then have come and gone and so I doubt it could be attributed to a few PIMO artists.

While a few random shapes that appear as something else could be reasonable on occasion, they generally wouldn't be recognized as a complete person or item.

Because the hidden images in WT literature have been so frequent, blatant, complete and often have a similar appearance and theme, that seems to suggest they are not random or by accident.

If it were so common for complete hidden images to randomly appear in printed works, they should also be easily found in other common publications and periodicals not produced by WT.

Welcome to the forum Peeringin,

Having each mic on a pole and passed by a mic handler will often result in a quicker response compared to waiting for each person to pass-along the mic to a person sitting mid-row. I expect there will also be less handling noise and the risk of dropping and damaging a mic will be reduced.

As far as a control regarding someone offering an unwelcomed comment, each microphone is controllable at the public address system soundboard so it's a simple matter to remotely shut-off that mic's input.

Virtually all Canadian provinces have implemented distracted driving restrictions regarding handheld devices.

In Ontario, it has been established that distracted driving is the leading cause for vehicle collisions resulting in death.

This year in Ontario, fines were increased UP TO $1000, 3 demerit points and 3-day license suspension for the 1st offence. Even at that, too many people continue holding their phones while driving and a 2nd offence can be up to $2000, 6 points and 7-day suspension.

Handheld devices which include other entertainment devices, may be controlled by the driver using a mounted control, or handsfree using a voice-controlled Bluetooth device or a wired earpiece.

A Red light, Stop sign or construction delay is still considered the operation of a vehicle so devices are not permitted to be held while stopped for those purposes.

hofstra students in new york have gotten together to rid the campus of a statue of thomas jefferson because he was a racist slave owner.

i’m sure people hate many of the founding fathers because of their histories.

we need to get rid of any reminder of our sordid past.

What next? Erasing their terms as President?

Not intending to imply it was OK but, being racist and a slave owner in the day of the founding fathers, were probably common and accepted practices for men of stature. Apparently, 12 Presidents owned slaves during part of their lives, 8 supposedly while in office.

What commonly accepted practices today will be considered to be racist, archaic or unacceptable in 100 years from now.

Advice on Disassociating

hello my exjw/pimo/pomo friends,.

i am working on penning my da letter and wondered if i should use it as a tool to maybe wake up individuals as the boe will have to read it.. anyone have any advice on what i should say versus what i should leave out?

i am not going to fade as my family can either be loyal to blood or loyal to a man made religion.

WT finds it necessary to place a label on everyone, as a method of control. Clearly defined labels are utilized by JWs to indicate how they are to view and treat the person.

In fading, there is no clear indication of the person's intentions. Is the person sick but planning to return or are they walking away and not planning to return? JWs don't know for sure, so speculation ensues.

There is a fear that some faded JWs not planning to return, that say nothing negative and remain friendly, will continue to be treated as a brother by many. WT does not want that to happen.

Claiming a letter of DA is playing by WT rules, maybe implying the letter gives WT the clear indication and proof it demands so as to re-label the person and treat them in a specific manner WT deems fitting of that label. Fading keeps everyone uncertain of how the person is to be viewed, labelled and treated, which undermines WT requirements and methods of control and so goes against at least one of the rules WT has developed.

@Incognito - LOL, so it was easy for me to disassociate because my family was dysfunctional,

I simply wish to caution a person to think long and hard on who they stand to lose when they make that choice [to DA]. Can they bear that burden? ~ Incognito

Not sure why these responses and quotes are being directed to me. I believe these are rightly addressed to INCOGNIGO Montoya.

For what it's worth, my opinion is each person needs to do as is appropriate for them and their unique situation. There is no one size fits all.

Someone who fades or suddenly stops attending always has an option to DA at a later time if they find there is a reason to do so. Removing themselves from meetings will often provide a needed break, to allow the person time to think and consider how the future will likely unfold, without influence from JWs that will attempt to make the person feel guilty and derail their plans.

Someone who immediately decides to DA may be making a hasty decision based on emotion and may not be considering the full consequences to that action.

Regardless of the fact that the announcement is identical, once a person is DA'd, they are often considered by many JWs as worse than someone who is DF'd. This is not an action to be treated lightly, particularly if that person has family members who are JWs, or business dealings involving JWs.

What is appropriate for one person, may not be the same for someone else.

One thing for certain, once you DA, there is no way to unring that bell if you later find it was a mistake.

You may wish to initially fade or stop attending altogether to see how that goes. If tolerable, continue in that manner. If you later find it necessary or want to DA, you can then do so after appropriate calm consideration and without emotion or feeling forced or rushed.

Many JWs receiving a letter will not necessarily read it word for word but will simply scan through for specific words to determine the letter's purpose. Once they realize why you had written, many will not read it but will often discard or pass-it-along to an elder.

One JW belief is that we are each obligated and will be 'blood guilty' if we do not preach to and teach others. By attempting to 'Wake Up' active JWs, is that to appease that same learned obligation?

Sometimes, the less that is said, the better.
