just venting for a minute.
most commonly, they say, "well, if you're not the newspaper, then what's the newspaper's number?
" 'cause i can't remember which digit is different.
We had a woman who kept dialing the wrong number. She would call at all hours night and day. We kept telling her that this was the wrong number but she continued to call. My husband got fed up with it one day and called her number back, hung up, called her number, hung up and kept doing this to show her how annoying it is. The last time he called she picked up the phone and said, "You ARE the weakest link,,,,,,, good bye."
The next day I ordered call block...

so what really happens to us when we die?
i know this is probably something most people have some sort of opinion on but i just have no idea.
i've had paradise ingrained in me and now that i'm putting that possibility aside i'm curious.
Franklin,
That is interesting. I didn't know that. I think I will look into it a little bit more.
I understand nobody really knows and nobody will ever know for certain. I just think it is interesting seeing the wide range of thoughts people have about it.
Growing up I was always taught that I would live in paradise. Even with this belief, as a child I was terrified of death. I remember having nightmares many, many nights after one of the brothers that I looked up to in the cong. died. Many people do not have a fear of death and I'm interested in knowing what beliefs they have that comfort them. I guess to me paradise just wasn't enough of a comfort.

Also, I do believe it affects life to a certain extent. For example, if you strongly believe what the Baptists do then you are probably going to do what you can to not burn in hell. At least I know if that were my belief I would be a little more careful with what I did in my life.

Phantom,
I really don't have any certain purpose for my question. I am just curious about everyone's opinion on it. I've been taught to ignore all other possibilities and focus only on paradise. I know there has to be more to it than that and I'm curious what everyone thinks about it.

A lot of people believe that they have had some sort of experience with a ghost at one time or another. (Usually not a JW or ex-JW) I've found that a lot of people don't consider this a bad thing. Some even feel that it is their dead loved ones.
If people don't come back as ghosts sometimes then does that mean the JW's are right and that it really is the demons doing things?

Phatom,
I agree with you. We are taught that once we have left we are as good as dead. However, I am finding a lot of fault with all of the things I have been taught over the years and can't see how some hypocritical JW is going to be better off when everything is said and done than I am. I just wonder what really happens.

Bryan,
If you believe in reincarnation, do you believe that humans come back as humans? Do you feel that some are punished for what they have done wrong in one life by coming back as something less in another?

Or, when we die is that just the end?

it takes time (usually several years for most folks), to attain a certain level of inner peace about leaving the watchtower society and all its psychological baggage.
it?s a process we all go/grow through and just because you haven?t attained the perfect balance yet doesn?t preclude you from enjoying the success that you have attained, so far.
anyway here are a few i thought of myself.
I look forward to being at that point someday. :)
