he had a blast, and later that day we ran into an elder and his wife (very judgemental people, even for jw's) and he blurted out that he had been to a friends birthday party.
it was all i could do not to crack up!
you shoulda seen the looks on their faces.
Awww, what fun! I'm so happy for you both that your son can enjoy being a child birthday parties and all....

Okay, I guess I stated it incorrectly. I just mean is there any other reference to Jesus or archeological findings that indicate his existance on earth?
Desi
Is there proof other than the Bible, of Jesus life and ministry on earth?

even i am pretty shocked at this one... .
my daughter who is 20 years old and df'd for about 2 years now is attending meetings again.
but yesterday she tells me that she didn't feel like going to the meeting and that her mom probably wouldn't even know that she wasn't there.
That is horrible! They are so unloving, nothing like they claim to be.
I also think having disfellowshipped persons sit on the back row is wrong. I remember being young and spending most of the meeting glancing back at them like they were some kind of freak show. Never again will I treat people in an unloving manner like I did as a JW.
My best wishes to your daughter in seeing through it all.

this may sound funny, but my family would celebrate every year a " gift day".
it would be in december but never the week of christmas.
we would get gifts for each other and have a family meal.
My friend and I did that. Our families didn't so we made up Friendship Day and bought each other gifts. It was always so much fun having something to look forward to.

about myself...... i think i'm a very judgemental person and that really bothers me.
it's only in regard to religon though..... for example, yesterday, after my husband and i had watched the passion, i was all pumped up about religon, so thankful that jesus had died for me and and ready to start trying to better myself.
that evening my husband got really ticked off at someone who had pulled out in front of us almost causing an accident and cussed them out.

That's when I started tellling him that he shouldn't use language like that. Who am I to tell someone else what they should or shouldn't do? I can't believe I even acted like that. His language has never bothered me before.
I'm hoping that this personality trait stems from my JW background and that I can overcome it. I don't want to be a judgemental person. It just isn't right.
Has anyone else had similar feelings? How did you overcome it?

well after waiting a long six weeks and wondering everyday during that time was i going to get my new electric scooter and yes it finally arrived to one very happy orangefatcat.
it is a beautiful scooter full equipped and its fire engine red.
i took it out the other day and for the first time in years i was able to go around a beautiful park, talking to my neighbours, children, skaters, skateboards, families with their little ones and squirrels and birds and people greeting me and chating and some have puppies who try to get on board, well it was all so envigorating.
Great! Glad you will be able to get out and enjoy all the pretty .......

although i am not a fan of so-called 'reality' tv, i have been following "the apprentice" quite closely.
so tonight is the showdown, the finale.
who do you think will win?
Who's telling him that it looks good?
My guess is that everyone is telling him it looks good......I'm sure he has his fair share of kiss-up employees, family members and friends that would probably tell "The Donald" anything he wants to hear....

Okay, guess I'll 'fess up. I've been watching .
I agree, I think Bill will win but I think the network has been playing their part in it. For example, a week or two ago when they were trying to rent the penthouse and the guy that had been interested in it for a New Year's eve party came back at the last minute to get it and didn't even care that he had to be out by 12:00. Yeah right....for a New Years party and they are going to be out by midnight??? I think some of it has been staged.....but it has been fun watching anyway....
I'll join you guys in front of the tv tonight!
