The written review always excited me...of course I was a teenager. It broke up the monotony of Wed. night meetings.

i would get excited when i was younger and would study the watchtower and see that this weeks study only had 19 paragraphs.
(made the study seem shorter,lol).
when a meeting would get canceled because of snow (which was rare) and i would get to stay home and watch a cheers or the cosby show.

A well trained husband is key!
This is so funny....it reminded me of something. Before we were married when we lived seperately in diff. cities and he would come to visit on the weekends he would put his stuff all over the place. I had the idea to put a box in the additional closet for whatever he wanted to put in it....it worked perfectly...he started always dropping his shoes, belt.......and so on in it instead of throwing it all over the place.
The weekend we got married and he moved in with me, I opened the closet that was now his for his stuff and there it was...hehe all in the box! :)

One of the most beautiful things I enjoy seeing is an older couple who have been married for 40 or 50 years, walking and holding hands. Many times you can almost feel the love rubbing off on you.
I completely agree. I just want to know the secret. I know most people start out in love but what is the key to becoming that couple that has been married 40 or 50 years? I wonder if it has to do with the time period they got married in or if there really are little things that can be done to make a difference....

I guess what my question is, to all you who have successful marraiges, what makes a marraige last? I see so many people who after 20 years of marraige end up divorced. Why is it that this happens so much? Is it always a possibility or are there things that can be done to ensure a long lasting marraige? To those of you who regret the loss of your marraige what do you wish you had done differently?

well exactly as the title says...my 4 year old daughter, obviously tired of my dithering has taken matters into her own hands!.
the background is that i was bought up in the troof, and began my fade about 6 months ago.
i had been talking to my daughter about us not going to the meetings anymore and she accepted it very well.
I'm happy for you and your daughter....I'm sure she will have lots of fun participating in all the normal kids stuf..

i know as jw's we always heard this from the platform "do more service, do more study, do more...blah blah blah" and we were never doing enough of course.. i was somewhat suprised by church service this last sunday as the pastor was fairly pointed in telling the congregation that they need to "do more" - only it was in a totally different context and something i have never heard as a jw.
he told the congregation that the major affliction with american christian churches is they are obiese spritiually - that is, overfed and under worked.
he went on to show scripture after scripture where jesus did good works for others and ended the sermon asking that the focus of the church be moved more towards doing good works for our community and charities.
Wow...that is great that he is encouraging people to reach out to other people not to convert them but to help them.
The only thing I've ever had a pastor ask me to do is pledge money to the church. (of course I haven't been to many churches...)

you may have already heard this one but i thought i'd share anyway.. .
three religious truths.
1. jews do not recognize jesus as the messiah.. 2. protestants do not recognize the pope as the leader of the christian faith.. 3. jehovah's witnesses do not recognize each other at the porn shop.
LOL....both of these are very funny....
