Please Welcome kidneybean
by outnfree insome of you will remember that i occasionally brag on my dear friend, jann, who has been such a wonderful, caring friend to me since i moved to michigan from ontario over 10 years ago and whose love and support i could not have done without recently when my mother fell ill and then died.
(rayzor is a cheerleader of hers, too!
) well, ten days ago, she finally joined the forum as "kidneybean," a reference to her new lease on life since last august thanks to an organ donor.

Although you left the JW's...What JW beliefs do you still hold on to?
by JH in.
.
i still don't believe in the trinity.. i believe that we should pray god and not jesus like so many do

Elsewhere, I agree with you in that I find myself debating the JW belief as compared to other christian belief.... I myself do not practice any religion and don't believe the bible is inspired and as to wether god exists....... if he does I'd say we're not getting along.

Thank you JamesThomas. At first I felt very angry.....and then just sad. I know they really believe that they are "doing the right thing" and I saw my dad cry for the first time in forever. I wish so badly that they wouldn't let the WT control them like this. I wish my parents didn't hurt like I know they do.... Trailblazer

Welcome! For me, becoming open to new ideas started when I decided to "educate" myself as to other peoples beliefs in order to compare it to JW"s. You know, for educational purposes only. LOL I felt guilty at first too. I felt like I was cheating somehow. If you go about it in an "information gathering" sense without feeling like you have to make a choice or commitment, it makes it easier. At least for me. Good luck in your search. Trailblazer

Thanks everyone for all of your input. I can't believe how much better I feel already knowing there are others who understand. At first I felt very alone. And your right Puternut, I should put it back in thier lap. After all it is THEIR decision.....

I have just come from my parents house. My dad just informed me that he and my mother cannot attend my wedding. (I was married before, have "faded away" and am getting re-married). It just sucks. I am finally feeling the full impact of shunning from my extended family and friends. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Do discussion boards have any healing effect?
by gumby inhi friends,.
i read somewhere else of the thought that discussion boards for ex-dubs, are not the place to heal unless there is proffesional help onboard.
i disagree.

Well, I don't know whether they help or not, but I sure hope so. I imagine any where you can give and recieve support is a good place to be as long as everyone responds in kindness and with minimal anger. I find anger makes healing more difficult. Recovery, I believe means able to cope with and lead a life without dwelling on.
