I just wanted to say that your story was beautiful. Made me all warm and fuzzy inside. You make Austraila sound so interesting and beautiful. I wouldn't mind living there myself. Could you tell me, how one would go about making such a move?
It's been a really long time since I have posted.....like 4 or 5 months at least. I was banned from it at work by my former boss, but he's gone now, and my new one doesn't care. Anyways.....I just got engaged last week. We've set the tenative date for May 3rd of 2003, which leaves me 8 months to plan. I am 4 months behind! And we don't have any money saved. So does anyone have any suggestions on how we could have a nice wedding on a tight budget without going to the courthouse or eloping in Vegas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
i just read the thread started by obves...and have often heard people talking about dates and time frames..... my question is....where in the hell do these people come up with these numbers?????
how do you come about making predictions and/or claims about how much time 70 weeks actually equals in bible terms???
could someone please explain this to me, because it's starting to piss me off, the way people are just throwing around numbers and dates and if they are hardcore fact.. thanx.

i had a letter today from the idiot jw "friend" back in wisconsin who was spreading all the gossip about us and she said something that is so stupid, but yet so jwish.
she said that "even if it were to turn out that everything the society has taught is wrong and armageddon never comes, the organization is still the best place to be.
Target, I have to congradulate you and your family on your decision about "the end". That comment your friend made is definately assinine....and a comment I've had thrown at me recently as well, by a JW woman who is still 'friends' with me. Everytime we get into a discussion about the borg, which she most often initiates, she asks me why I left, and why I don't think it's the truth. I offer valid points of reasoning, I show her the errors right out of the JW bible...hard, solid fact. And her reply is always the same...better in the org than in the world. Yet, this wonderous organization has broken her entire family apart, and the elders have done nothing to stop it, nor have they provided any type of help. I guess some Dubs will never come out of that mindset. Such a shame. But I am glad that you have come to your own conclusion on the matter (:))
here is an example of what passes for thought provoking poetry among the dubs.
(try not to hurl).... of all my years as a witness, the times were not always good.. too many mistakes were being made, the brothers not doing what they should.. as i look back now there are times, i can recall, when i did not even look forward to going to the kingdom hall.. the brothers showed no love.. they didn't seem to care.. the elders were unyielding, demanding and unfair.. meetings were dull and boring; field service was a chore.. there wasn't much of a "pioneer spirit,".
while going from door to door.. it would not get any better, as i hoped it would.. i knew the day was coming when i would leave jehovah's house for good.. but happily, it's so different now, jehovah has been so kind.. he has allowed me a wonderful congregation to find.. the spirit is so strong here.. the brothers really care.. i couldn't be more happy if i were anywhere!.
if the rank and file members of jehovahs witnesses reject the watchtower's thinking on bible doctrine in some way, they are considered apostate.. yet the governing body of j.ws, themselves have rejected teachings of previous governing body members who have long since died and have proceeded to change interpreatation on things many times over, from russell to fred franz.
I agree with you Mac.....truth, in it's simplest form...broken down from a compound into a basic element. If only JW's could see this. How could I explain this to a JW, who is currently having a difficult time in the org? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I took a look at Ebay...they only have 'Consolation' magazines from the 1940's...and some books, most of them 1970's and above...most are first printing, some 1930's and 40's books....not really a big selection. Just thought I'd let you know. Good Luck in your search.
i had dinner tonight with a woman that i knew in my old congregation growing up.
she was an elder's wife, and i was friends with her daughter.
she has written a new book that is being published by prometheus books and is being released in january 2002. she will be doing upcoming radio interviews to publicize the book, and i'll post more information when i have it.
