Whatever happened to the pioneer-assist program?
by Goldminer in.
i remember about 5 or 6 years ago, they introduced the pioneer-assist program at one of the service meetings.the purpose of of this program was for the spiritually-strong pioneers to go out in service with an r&f member on a weekly basis for about 6 months to help build up others in the congregation.part of this was because in the mid to late 90's a large number of people had become jw's and they wanted to make good publishers with them.. anyways,my wife was quickly signed up as was another young sister down the road.my wife was excited about it and was really hoping to benefit spiritually.within a few weeks though, her pioneer partner started making up excuses why she couldn't go out with my wife until eventually their arrangement just petered out.the young sister down the road was also quickly ditched;the pioneer saying she had to care for her elderly mother(she didn't stop pioneering though).before long the pioneer clique was back to normal and the spiritually-strong pioneers were again going out in service with other spiritually-strong pioneers.i don't recall any updates or the program itself ever mentioned again at the kingdom hall, like it was just a bad experiment or a major burden on the pioneers.. does anyone have any experiences with the pioneer-assist program?

Not sure if I made a wrong move
by redskymedic ini posted here a bit a while back.
quick background- df-ed when i was 21 (10 yrs ago), left the jw's as a single mom with a 3 yr old son.
jw mom helped me raise him for the first few years, so my departure was a sticky family mess.

I think you made the right move, but you need to make sure your Son understands, otherwise he may not understand your reasoning.

Blondie what you say is true, but you have to realise that in Dubai about 95% of the population is non-native and so while those rules are true for the muslims they are not so strict with foriegners. It has been known for some muslims to drink out there.

ok, door to door question.......
by freedom96 ini am always teasing my wife about having a "country club" upbringing as a witness.. in the hall i grew up in, and those i attended for a few years after turning 18, were pretty hard core.
i tease her about how easy she had it.
which, in my mind was clearly the case, but that is another story.. this case involves going out in service.. in my halls, you went out almost regardless of weather.

Our territory was a mixture of towns, where we would walk, and rural, where we would drive.
But the best morning ever on the field service was a lovely summers day. We did rural work, but walked between all the houses. We did about 3 hours, about 20 doors and spoke to about 4 people. And there was about 6 of us and we had a real giggle. -

My Mum lives in Dubai most of the time and goes to the meetings there. They only have 3 meetings a week, all in someones house. They are allowed to informal witness to any non-muslim people there. Actually seemed a nice way of doing thing, because the congregation was just people who lived there for business it didnt seem to have the same attitude about people missing meetings.

An eight year old got baptised at an Assembly I was at and was then on the platform talking about it later
It was one of the main reasons for me properly questioning the religion. -

A brief history of Watchtower simplification (Jehovah's Blessing)
by truthseeker inwith the latest insider news regarding the awake magazine going to a monthly publication, now would be a good time to examine a brief history of how jehovah has blessed the organization by simplifying it.
1993 paid for literature went to donation-based literature.
mid 1990s no food at assemblies and conventions.

"A REVERSE SIMPLIFICATION WAS WHEN THEY SEPARATED THE DAYS TEXT FROM THE YEARBOOK"
This was actually a simplification, under the old system they had to print a copy of the yearbook and days text for every member of the family, by seperating them one year book can be used by the whole family and each member only needs the days text
