  I RENOUNCE MY ASSOCIATION WITH JWS

  it is my pleasure to announce i have terminated my membership of the jehovahs wittnesses.

  i shall be formally making this statement known to my congregation at tomorrow nights meeting after i have taken the ministry school.

  for many years i have developed my own thoughts on religion and this along with the information i have learned here and on other sites has convinced me that i can no longer live teaching the bollocks the wtbs.

  I hope it all goes as you plan Realness.

  If you have family/close friends still in this might be a bit drastic unless you know how they would feel about such an announcement from the platform.

  Remember how you would have felt over a DF announcment from the platform that you knew nothing about, especially if it was someone you where close to or even related to. I have seen the effects of such things.

  I am not to deter you from leaving the org, far from it. I am just hoping that you have prepared your ground well.

  We where in for 18 years and other half was an elder when we started fading, but we had our children to consider and these had been brought up in the org.

  I hope you get what you want.

  Please keep us posted.

  on page 13 is an ad by the lord's witnesses.. `the league of nations/un was abyssed during wwii as prophesied in revelation 17.. it is ridden by a harlot which stands for all the unfaithful churches in the world.these are all the religions which have joined the un as ngos(non governmental organisations).they range from the catholics to the jehovah's witnesses.the reason that christian churches should not join th un is that they are supposed to look to god for their protection and advancement not powerful organisations of men.in this sense joining the un is an act of unfaithfullness,depicted in revelation as harlotry,because the church is supposed to be the wife of christ,he should be their head rather than any political organisation such as the un,however noble their charter may be!.

  What should we reply when invited to memorial?

  when my mil invites my husband to the memorial he plans on saying, "well i've already been to the memorial before.

  if you've been there once, there's no need to go again since the talk is the same mumbo-jumbo year after year and i'm not anointed anyway.".

  what do you plan on saying or have you said?

  I have always thought that the idea of a creator destrying his creation because it doesnt work as he expected it to is to say the least bizarre.

  It is like a small child who cant quite master his lego bricks and so throws them down and jumps up and down on them when things dont work out as he wanted.

  Maybe there is something out there.

  We have no ultimate proof either way.

  I certainly dont believe in the biblical concept of a creator.

  Most governments through the ages have embraced the main philosophies ie care of fellow man etc and often without a religious leaning to take them that way.

  The god of the old testament would be tried and found guilty under the Hague convention. Is he the best we can do?

  how many times have we heard from the platform about jehovah and looking after pioneers etc especially if they were short of money or something material.. in our cong it wasnt jehovah it was other brothers and sisters doing the providing.

  usually those who were actually in a full time secular job.

  the ones who took all the stick about not putting kingdom interests first but instead tried to pay their own way in the world without deliberately working short hours and claiming benefits.. this sort of thing really used to make me sick.. we even had one pio sister that used to make her bible studides fell sorry for her.

  This sort of thing really used to make me sick.

  We even had one pio sister that used to make her bible studides fell sorry for her. She was very good at befriending old ladies and ended up with gifts of money and one even left her enough in her will to buy a 2nd hand car. In all the years we knew her she never actually bought anyone into the org so these were really 'cup of coffee calls' (maybe that was good after all).

  Would it be better to have a halt to war topics ?

  unfortunately, it seems that people are unable or unwilling to debate or discuss the war and stay civil.

  people are accused of all sorts of extremes such as "advocating child torture and rape" if you are against the war or "being a mass murderer and war criminal" if you support it.. some people seem to want to be able to post anything they want and it be accepted verbatim while other people are denied an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.. i for one am sick of it and i suspect that other people are too.. this is supposed to be a site for jw related issues.

  Maybe some are going over the top with their comments and views because for the first time they are in position to really say what they think and feel about this highly emotive subject.

  In the last 2 conflicts ie Falklands and Desert storm we were loyal dubs and so spouted the party line and I am sure this is the case with many on the board right now.

  I think maybe it is hard for people who come from a high control background to express themselves in an adult and constructive way and to let others do the same.

  The old feeling that anyone not in total agreement with them is "wicked-worldly-deserves to die at Armgeddon" then tends to take over and govern their reasoning.

  We must all allow others the freedom of their thoughts and decisions without resorting to personal abuse and derogratory comments.

  However much we think we know and understand about this latest conflict we DONT KNOW IT ALL!!, and maybe never will.

  We also bring our own emotional baggage to every decision we make and comments we type on this forum.

  We can all try to be thoughtful and adult about this.

  We do after all want to show others that the org is wrong about life outside its walls and want to encourage these ones to join us here in their recovery.

  We can say what we feel but total freedom is anarchy so we must think first.

  I am finding it very thought provoking to read others thoughts on this war but it detracts from the main issue when the comments become personnel.

  How long could you live without electricity?

  i lived through the ice storm of january 97 in quebec.

  i spent 1 complete day without electricity.

  it was about 25f (-5c) outside, and i had no heating.

  Hi everyone

  we have camped regularly for the last 40 years and so to a certain extent know how to live for a while without all the mod cons and 'leccy.

  I dont know how long we could cope in the normal domestic environment having only done it for a few hours at a time during power cuts.

  We have stocked up our butane and have 3 camping stoves and 3 solar panels.

  I always keep a good supply cupboard so that we can go away for a few days without having to shop.

  i recall a witness brother from yeovil, somerset, who was never given any "privileges" of service within his local congregation.. his crime?

  well, he worked for westlands in a job that he'd served as an apprentice at since his 16th birthday.

  westlands make helicopters, most of them for the military.

  Yes lots of unwritten rules. Nursing was frowned on esp if you did nights that meant you missed some or part of the meetings.

  If you came into the org qualified and with a useful skill - plumbing/electrical etc you where made use of but woe betide anyone else in the fold who tried to get a similar qualification.

  It is also a big no no for married sisters to work unless at a manual job. This also contributes greatly to the relative poverty of most dub households.

  We are still catching up from some of these various controls.

  How about the fact that you can spend weekend after weekend working on quick builds and KH refurbs and miss meetings and FS with impunity but try doing that to carry out some essential maintenance or work in your own home.

  We once took a easter bank holiday off to build a much needed shed in our garden and had to really be bolshie with some of the snide comments ( mind you we where beginning to at least mentally exit the borg so we did it (doesnt it sound pathetic).

  You can only understand these sorts of issues if you where in a high control group.

  Maybe it was harder as otherhalf was an elder and supposed to be "taking the lead" LOL
