if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

It would surprise me if it was over the blood issue...they are already spreading it around that if you do it in a moment of weakness, it's not a dfing offense. So they are basically telling people to use that excuse if needed.

The one thing that gets everyone's attention is MONEY. My bet is on misappropriation of funds, and maybe their theocratic warfare lying isn't going over so good with governments. You can get by with pretty much anything under the sun, but don't mess with the money!!!

I will be anxiously awaiting to hear and can't wait to start spreading the good news!!!

Is it all downhill after leaving JW's?

i know many people will get angry at this, but i had to share some observations i've had since i discovered this board a couple of days ago (see my original post under "why all the venom?").

i'll be very honest and say that i was hoping that i would discover that the jw's were wrong about some things, including the so-called "apostate" sites (i have been recommended to some internet sites and some books that i plan to investigate further).

i was hoping to find that people really didn't need the jw's "spiritual food" to remain true to god.

Yes, it is straight downhill to finding out that 5 generations of JW's have been lied to in my case. If you don't want to find out the real truth, this is not the place for you. Everything is dissected into tiny particles and so your Truth better be just that or it won't hold up in the lab. After hearing all the arguments on God and faith, and you decide to still retain your beliefs, that is certainly your perrogative. Isn't that nice and so different from the WTS that forces you to believe the current teaching, even if it's not correct? I hope you take some time to look around and educate yourself, then choose what's best for you.

Anyone ever go on one of those bus trips to bethel?

back in the late eighties while still in high school instead of doing something fun for spring break i got an all expense paid trip to bethel.

on a bus no less with about 75 other jws headed to the promised land.

somewhere i still have a photo album filled with snapshots of the printing presses and all of the "cadets" happily churning out literature -- and of course all of the female cadets happily scrubbing toilets and doing laundry.

You could not pay me enough money to go on one of those tours. Oh, they tried to get me to go many times, but I had heard too many stories on how BORING it was!!! I've been to NY a number of times and toured Bethel, had family and friends there, and that was sort of o.k. I felt sorry for all the robots!!! Now the plays and shopping and sight-seeing that was FUN!!!

Oh one other thing he wanted me to tell you was that he saved my life on time. I was out on my daily walk and two dobermans came charging up out of nowhere. He jumped right in and kicked their asses!!! They ran off with him in hot pursuit!!!

I just had a conversation with my 100 lb lab...here's what he said:

Woof woof woof...woof, woof woof woof woof. Woof, woof woof and woof woof woof. WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!

Translated that means, yes they have feelings, why do humans ask such dumb questions?

He wants me to tell everyone that hell yes, he gets jealous of my attention to any other creature...He owns me! If I try to pet another dog he gets in between us and pushes him away. He claims that's normal behavior. He also loves to scare the hell out of the mailman...it just makes his day a little less monotonous. He likes to sniff disgusting things that he knows upsets me as he thinks that's funny! He always makes sure I'm watching. When he gets a shower he only likes the mist setting...it's the only one he'll sit still for. He says it feels soooo good! (It's my favorite also.) Last but not least when he checks to make sure the house is safe and sound for the night, he always pushes open my bedroom door, so that he can keep an eye on me and make sure I'm safe. All in all, I'd say it's true love.

Birthday celebrations and customs - Are they for Christians?

i sent my birthday document (http://thebentinel.com/jw-birthdays.html) to a poster here that is at the very least a jw-sympathizer, if not a full-blown jw.

the response i got back indicated that my reasoning on it was seriously flawed and essentially any idiot with a passing knowledge of scripture and history can tell that birthdays are not something christians should celebrate.. of course, if you're not a bible-believer or a god-believer, you couldn't care less about pagan origins and all that.

but let's keep this conversation on the 'appropriate for christians' vein.

I find it rather strange that every guys birth is recorded from Adam to Christ and no one celebrated the day they came into the world? The Bible talks about what a wonderful thing having children is and then we can't celebrate the day they come into our lives? I believe that it was so common for people to celebrate birthdays that the Bible writers didn't think they had to even mention it. The Israelites celebrated everything...the harvest, the festival of booths, etc., they had a celebration every few months....JW's call the Memorial a celebration, how sad! I think even God would tell JW's to celebrate more and enjoy life more!
