I don't see how this could have an affect on the blood issue. There is the freedom of religion act here that allows for any religion to set their own rules and people have a right to join and live by those rules. The government won't touch it!!! If you don't like the rules, you have the freedom to leave the religion. The government would only get involved if a)minors were made to do something illegal b)someone in position forced/coerced someone against their will. The government is NOT going to make a religion change it's doctrines. We have many religions who do all kinds of weird things...Christian Scientists don't believe in taking meds. If a Christian Scientist lets their child die because of this THEN they can be prosecuted. What about the Snake handlers????? They do have deaths in their religion on a regular basis...And then their are the Scientologists who believe that aliens inhabit their bodies...the list goes on and on.

However, if there was a court proceeding in which they lied about their doctines or their involvement in the case, that would be a different story. With the blood issue though, it always falls on the adult persons right to choose. (It doesn't matter to the court that there is a room full of Witnesses chanting "don't take blood!") It was that person's decision.

Whether the blood issue is right or wrong, really doesn't matter. It is a doctrine of the JW religion. My mother, 80 yrs old, doesn't believe most of what they teach or what she was taught by them for 60+ years...however she will not take a blood transfusion. She does see though that it is a personal decision and doesn't believe it is wrong...it's just not something that she wants to do.

What do you think is going to happen regarding the blood issue? If they make a statement that they no longer consider it wrong but a conscience matter, what do you think will happen? Many family members have tried lawsuits for years regarding the blood issue and lost. There has been tons of press about the issue already...am I missing something??? They now have printed information regarding all the components you can take (which amounts to basically whole blood) just not a bag of the real stuff alltogether.

Barbara gave an update on her thread and the whole thing was about "lies." I think that is the focus.

Something else just occurred to me. Remember how the new study book(can't remember the name but it replaced the old United in Worship book) did away with the chapter on blood? Virtually the entire book is word for word from the UiW book. But why did they drop the chapter on blood? There was speculation that they were slowly implementing a change in the blood doctrine. In everyone's eyes, this sloth-like change was the only way for the WTS to ease away from this killing doctrine without drawing lawsuits.

I seem to remember that in other countries in order for the JW's to continue as a registered religion and/or have non-profit status they had to "allow" freedom of choice in blood transfusions. In the US however, they can continue their line of "no blood" which they do in publications such as the KM. (I think they did this in France for instance to try to win support from the government, to no avail!)

Dansk...I would imagine that Stephen Bates would be in on this. Just seems logical, if it is scandalous and proves they have been lying again. It seems that's what got his attention in the first place with the JW's deception of the R&F.

It's kind of hard to think about other posts as this might be announced sometime today or tomorrow and with the fact the Barbara is asking that we all be activists in spreading the news! Anyone else finding that to be a problem?

To those still in...my family, I don't think the blood issue would be that big of a deal...they would or wouldn't have a blood transfusion based on what they believe the Bible to say. Even if the WTS said it was o.k. a lot of them still would not even consider a blood transfusion. There are a lot of people with different beliefs that wouldn't take blood, just because of the health risks. I have met tons of people that will not take blood. If that is the Big Announcement, it will fall flat with many of the friends and family I have. There was a time in the early history that this was not an issue...wasn't it Fred Franz that came up with this? So it would be a flip/flop on new light/old light. Also, even if it was proved that they quoted statements falsely, individuals have the right to go along with a religion or not. It would be very difficult to get any kind of class action law suit as it would be regarded as freedom of choice and upheld in a court of law. Think about all the false quotes in the Evolution Book!!!

I just hope we hear something on Monday!!!!

a few weeks ago a man that live near my house wrecked his car and was killed about 5:45 am.

the mans friend my partner in business was at my house at 6:00 the go hunting on my place.

after he went hunting he left to find what had happened to his friend because he had not shown up.

I woke up one night around 1 a.m. and for some odd reason decided to look out my bedroom window. (Usually, I just fall back asleep) There was my precious lab trying to get out of the pool!!! We had left him tied up to his runner and thought it was far enough away from the pool so that he couldn't get in. I dashed down the steps in my nightie, jumped in the pool and saved my baby!!! He was very tired and I don't know how long he had been in there. No one believed my story the next morning! But I know I'm his hero!!!

I received a phone call one morning and a friend informed me that one of my son's best friends had been killed in a car accident. I went in, woke my son up, and said I had some bad news to tell him. He said "_____was killed in a car wreck." I asked how he could possibly know that? He said that he had woke up during the night and just knew what had happened, stayed awake for a while, but decided that he could possibly be wrong as there was no phone call. So when I woke him up and said I had bad news he immediately knew he had been right. Strange...
