Of Late Many Here Seem To Be Preaching Aethiesm..

when i first came here a while back there was plenty of discussion around and about jw topics and general chit chat but of late i've felt quite a sharp increase in posts that are: .

1/ preaching aethism (as opposed to putting it forward in a respectful way as an alternate viewpoint.

2/ vitriolic attacks on those who dare have another view ('damn those stupid heretical believers') .

Here is one example of late...feel free to read my comment on the thread! When I first saw the title I expected it to be a give and take forum...it seemed to be inviting a response and then I felt it very quickly went to a name calling event. Calling people morons, telling them to stick a sock in it, and saying that Americans are uneducated was not something that I appreciated. That's just my opinion! I said what I did and then moved on...

Ouija Board

has anyone ever played with an ouija board?.

is the game as dangerous as has been suggested by the wts all this while?

wts seems confident that all inexplicable events associated with the game comes from a supernatural source, and not a psychological one.

SNG...I have a close friend who would form a question in his mind and the Ouija Board operator would not know a question was even being asked and the Board would spell out the answer. The operator then asked "I wonder what that means" and this person said "It's the answer to the question I was just thinking."

This person has never lied to me and is most trustworthy, so I tend to believe it. They decided to leave it alone after that! I will say that I have never experienced or seen anything. I'm sure to those that have it is real.

Also, going to school, I had several classmates who would tell me things...some could get it to work and others couldn't. Maybe some people just don't have the MAGIC TOUCH!

What I find strange is that it never seems to tell you things that you really want to know...like the winning lottery numbers!

Ghost Hunters is on the SciFi channel...it's about 2 plumbers who had an unexplainable incident happen to them and so are out to find "real ghosts" if there are any. They have a team and go around the country exploring stories. What is interesting is that the military has called them in several times to determine if they have a building that is "haunted". I am sure you can "google" it and find the time in your area. They just had a marathon this past Thursday night and showed 6 episodes.

The book that I was reading just said that their advice was to leave it alone. No explanation given...

I may have misunderstood but I thought the main point was:

One thing that makes me sad about here is that the professed friendliness of many here is sadly revealed as an utter sham (unless you agree with them) and those who use this place as an excuse to bully, call names and wallow in their own crapulence soon reveal their real 'loving' side as soon as a anyone dares disagree. I think that most here are still genuine, nice people bonding together well after a shared trauma but there are some real loud shouters here who have altered the feel in the air IMO.

It should be o.k. to AGREE TO DISAGREE but not o.k. to put a stop to a thread that others are truly interested in, by disrupting it! If you are an atheist then you should have a right to discuss it verses giving others the right to discuss their beliefs. IMHO it does seem to me that the athiests are shouting the loudest lately...maybe we should do a poll on that!

Almost Atheist: Maybe you should watch "Ghost Hunters"...

I read a book last year, can't remember the name...but it was talking about unexplained phenomon and dealt with a number of different topics. When it got to the subject of Ouija Boards it said to leave them alone. It hit me as strange because it was written more as a scientic take, and then made this statement out of the blue.

i think there will be some debate over the reasons for this ... is it the threat of the death penalty stoppong people committing crime or are fewer convicted because jurors feel less confident knowing that it sends someone to their death.. maybe americans are just getting more civilised?!

I think it's because the price of ammo has sky-rocketed!!!

Chris Rock said "Let everybody keep their guns, just charge $50.00 a bullet and a brother will think twice before he pops someone...is he worth that much money?" (Said something to that effect!)

The other theory is that the armed forces are out of the country...could they be the ones behind all this? (Just kidding, don't go off on me!)

I totally agree with you that it is rude for people of dissenting views to hi-jack a thread that is of interest to you. IMHO it seems to be going on a lot lately!!! Some of the posters just run rough-shod over others and get completely off the subject material!

blair's legacy, apart from the iraq debacle and the ban on fox-hunting that never was (because the hunts still go on), is to make britain bankrupt by spending all the money we had, wasting all the windfalls that came along and setting things up so that there is massive liability for the future.. i think it's just a matter of time before this all hits the fan and people wake up to what is going on.

brown will never get to be pm in my opinion.

I have seen a lot of women tennis players over the years and none have a body like hers. Here's my take:

1. She is/has taking/taken steroids

2. She is not really a she (her body looks like it should have a man's head except for the boobs)
