  i thought the photography was awesome and enjoyed the story.

  i loved the books when i was younger and i'm glad they finally made it into a movie.

  some of you know there was a big blow up with my family at thanksgiving because i started a thread about it.

  others that don't know...please look up my past post if you're curious.

  but in brief my older brother had a major anger tantrum (shoving me because i disagreed with him, punching the wall)....nothing new, he's been having a lot of these fits over the past 2 years.

  Why are you letting him ruin your holiday...take a step back. Let him throw his tantrums whatever...ignore them unless he roughs you up and if that happens call the police. Get off the merry-go-round. If he starts in talking to you or if anyone else brings it up say "He needs help, end of discussion." Don't get drawn into fixing him! Ain't gonna happen...it's the same with an alcoholic...refuse to add to the insanity. This puts it on his shoulders and takes the monkey off your back. REFUSE to get drawn in to anything other than polite conversation...with him or family members about him. They'll get the picture if YOU stick to the above. If it gets out of hand...don't argue with him, get your things and leave...that will make a statement louder than any words! Just don't allow him to get under your skin anymore..make that your new resolution. He's already absorbed way too much of your life.

  i know that many of you have the information discussing the watchtower's view on this and why so many thought it was going to be the beginning of armageddon and the mass exodus from the org when nothing happened.

  i remember it very well and my mom telling me not to get my hopes up because she had been looking for the ancient worthies to appear for years at the assemblies and that never happened.

  then they changed their prophesy on that too!!!

  What about this one?

  In 1914 when the group went out and stood on the Brooklyn Bridge expecting God to rapture them up to heaven, they had not stopped the facilities at Bethel or anywhere else in the world.

  And please don't say "before my time." It's all there in the history books!!!

  Not everyone believed in the 1975 hype...I remember it being discussed in my house and my mom told all of us NOT to expect anything. She said she had been around for a long time and we would all do well to wait and see. However, 2 of my brothers told me on the side they felt sure this was "it". Like I said earlier I had a CO encourage me to quit school as it was "pointless, as we only had a few more months left!" That was his words. My mom had been around when they could not wait for each assembly as that might be the time the princes...Abraham, Isaac, David, etc. chose to return and they might be sitting right next to them. The thought was that they would choose an assembly as the time to put in their appearance!!! That's in the history books also. They looked for them for years but finally changed the teaching got "new light" and told everyone they weren't returning until after Armageddon.

  It could very well be that you were in a part of the country that didn't fall for the hype...that happens and it happened back then for sure. I knew of a few friends that didn't know all this stuff was going on....guess the CO's didn't believe it and didn't go along with the directives. It's kind of hard to find out this many years later as the WTS has tried very hard to sweep this under the rug!

  Do you see all the posts saying that it was taught? This has been discussed many times over here and elsewhere and the yes they dids outnumber the no they didn'ts! This is a free country and believe what you want...that's your choice!

  Did YOU Ever Get Into Trouble While Another JW Got Off The Hook???

  how many here got the raw end of a deal and got punished for something while another person who did the exact same thing got off without hardly a whisper?

  I know none of you here will believe that I ever got in trouble but it's true...and I got off easy several times while others got the ax!!! I really don't know why either. Maybe because I was always going out in service even on Sunday afternoons when no one else would...

  Here's a story that few people know about me...I got really upset over some things going on in my personal life and had a few too many drinks...(which was not a habit!) and I took off all my clothes but undies and jumped in the pool...several others joined me...I didn't get anything but counsel, they got publicly reproved...go figure.

  Living proof: Elders are not spirit appointed

  witnesses say that elders are appointed by holy spirit.

  the bible is the product of hs and when the body prays and uses the bibles qualifications for older men in the context of the perspective candidate hs is involved in his approval or disapproval.

  then when the co passes the recommendation on the gb (or who ever actually makes the decision) these spirit appointed men are influenced by hs.. all well and good, the only problem is, it does not work.

  For some odd reason, I was always "in the know" on people at the hall from an early age. I would have adults tell me things I should never have heard about other people. So for as long as I can remember I would always roll my eyes when I head that---never believed it. You guys didn't fool me for a second!!! Just thought you might be interested to know that we didn't all fall for it either.

  Dry Water massage?

  what kind of location did you use it in?

  mall, dr.s office, tanning salon etc?.

  Please explain...does dry water not sound like an oxymoron to anyone else? Are you talking about that casket thingy you crawl into and the plastic keeps you from getting wet??? I haven't tried that as I too claustrophobic!!!

  Is Christmas for fun?

  given that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin but christianity endorses spiritual self-flagellation/crucifixion, moderation, and enough "-isms" to make your eyes water, is christmas truly for fun?

  i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a hedonistic and sensory society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus thing is definitely a christian element.

  would any true hedonist today want to drink such a mixed cup (potentially of poor-grade wine)?

  Should Christians wear kilts and if they do, what is appropriate to wear underneath, if anything? Is is appropriate to wear kilts to KH's? Does the hem have to touch the top of the knees or can you risk hemming it up a little higher? (I would only go for the higher hemming if the legs warranted it!!!) I have never been to Scotland, so these are legit questions!!! Try to remember that we Americans don't have any idea what you guys are talking about sometimes...I know it's all English...just some of the words throw us off.

  I don't remember anyone polishing mikes in our hall, but then again, I could have missed it...it that a common practice in your neck of the woods? I do remember thinking often that I would like to take a mike and hit the guy over the head with it!!! They could be annoying, not ever knowing how to even turn the thing on, and never knowing anyone the speaker was calling on. Wished they had just given the mike duty over to the sisters...they were so much more on the ball, if you know what I mean.
