how many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.
or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.
and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!
After my husband died the P.O. came to my house every friday night drunk and wanted to talk to me. After a month of this I told his wife. And then the elders. His wife came to my house and was upset with ME. She said I really hurt her family. She didn't deny he was here and drunk, I should not have told anyone.

They robbed me. First they robbed me of my money, then they took my trust, then my faith. For a while they robbed my of self-confidence and replaced it with fear of being able to go on and raise my two children after my husband died.
But...my children and I have survived and are still intact. Now it seems like a small price to pay for mine and my childrens freedom from that cult. It took them taking my money and telling me God would kill me and my children if I tried to take them to court to open my eyes.

i have never sought out proffesional help.i guess the way i am is part of that stubborn old school mentality of"i don't need any help".i think i can fight through alot of my feelings.as a raised,insecure,unhappy,negative ex jw child,do members on this forum think someone such as myself should seek psycological help(even if yes,why?
)why can't i fully move on?does just vocalizing these issues help?.
i know the answer,but i'm afraid to deal with it.i guess i'm just having a bad day.i'm glad i have this meesage board .youve all been great,sorry to bother with my pitifull emotions,.
For me it is a matter of trust. I trusted the JWs and I felt betrayed and I began to doubt my ability to make good decisions. I am raising two kids by myself and caring for my elderly mother-in-law because my husband died and I became afraid I would let everyone down. I shut down. It did no good for anyone to talk to me because I could not trust anyone. For me being here every day sometimes twice a day, laughing when they laugh and crying when they cry and mostly being angry when others are for the same reasons I am has helped heal me. It takes time and we all go at our own speed. This is a healing place.

this question would seem funny to non-jw's - but i bet some of you x-jw's will understand.. i look at the world around me and see so much need.
i look at my own life and see so much blessings and wealth.
i give to charity - but i always think - "is it enough?
Just reading this post shows the witnesses lost, either by you all walking away or being thrown away, the best part of what they were supposed to stand for. Helping one person at a time ....one day at a time....

I have three cats tellin me what to do. When they want to eat, to go out, come in, you get the picture. They are wonderful. I also keep food outside for the strays around here in the winter. I have no snakes or mice in my yard. And my neighbor now has no frogs in her pond either.

i met an ex-witness at the mall last week, and she told me that she recently divorced her husband.
both were witnesses for over 20 years.
i was surprised to hear that they were divorced.
There were 6 married couples in the congregation that lived apart. Each couple had their own place and the women sat together at the hall and complained to each other about their husbands asking them to come over and do something for them. They felt the men should be living their own lives and leave them alone. But they were alway watching for women to be with their husbands so they could divorce them. These were all older couples with grown children. One man I know was in his late 60's and was really in need of help. His own children would not take him in or help him. They also went to the hall with their own families and none of them sat together.

i tried drilling through my hand today, but it didn't work.
i was drilling a hole, and the drill slipped and sliced up my index finger.
how come the bigger injuries hurt less?
My brother was using a circular saw and hit a knot in the board he was cutting. The saw jumped and cut off two fingers and part of a third. He said there was no pain and very little blood at first. He picked up his fingers and went in the house and wraped his hand tight to put pressure on it and used the other hand to call the police for help. He put his fingers in a plastic bag with ice and sat on his front porch and waited for the police .
The doctors reattached the fingers and other then the fact they are bent a little he has full use of his hand.
