Um, what country is this? I live in the United States and have seen several movies in the theater recently (including 2 just last weekend) and I have never once in my entire life even heard of the national anthem being played at a theater, much less been obligated by law to stand for it. I've only ever heard the anthem sung at my county fair before the start of a concert, and nobody is required to stand. Sitting may be looked down upon by some, but it sure as hell isn't illegal by any means.

JW Ideal candidates for Life Insurance?
by MNLifeAgent ini am not a jehovah's witness, although i do respect your religion entirely.
i am 27 years old, and live in minnesota.
i have an older cousin, who's mother (not with my uncle -separated when my cousin was a baby) had been a witness, grew up in your word, and about 12 years ago she fully converted.

smiddy I had a hiccup where I was a bit stumbled for a short time by people.
Sounds like you haven't entirely escaped the JW mindset because you are blaming someone other than yourself for "stumbling."
BTW why won't anyone tell me how to quote others in a post? I've asked multiple times all over this forum and no one has ever given an answer. I've tried the " button but it does nothing. -

My mother's treatment. Unreal.
by quellycatface ini disassociated myself 3 years ago but have never told my mother, as she lives quite a distance from me in the uk.
i've have told her that i no longer go to meetings, neither does my son, who is 16.. i haven't seen her for 3 1/2 years.
i offered to come visit this week but she was incredibly offhand with me and said she couldn't meet with me today as she was on the ministry!!

A Believer....... A naughty, naughty sheep....
by DATA-DOG in"a believer" seems to be our new apologist/disobedient sheep.
"a believer" ignores the "spirit-directed"/"bible-based" commands of the gb/fds!
shame on you, "a believer"!!!!

2+2=5 I love how your rude reply has so far earned you six dislikes and zero likes. Meanwhile, A Believer doesn't have a single dislike for his very polite and honest replies. That says a lot more about you than him.

To the brother who called in sick after Thanksgiving vacation
by schnell inthanks.. no really, thank you.. you decided to drive down to la with your wife and kids to be with extended family and eat a great big meal on thanksgiving.

Why didn't you simply tell your boss your tooth hurt and that rescheduling the appointment would cost you? You could have easily proven both of those things with a note from both your dentist and your insurance company. And your boss cannot write you up or fire you for that. If he tries, you can take him to court. And win.

The Santa Claus Class! 🎅
by Cold Steel inwhat we need is clarification.
when caleb approached his mother and wants to know whether, in the resurrection, he will enjoy the heavenly hope or be a part of the "great crowd.
as he looks at her with his piercing black eyes, she reminds him that jehovah can't lie.

Nobody ever questioned Caleb's existence. If the punch line were something along the lines of God not existing, the joke might have worked, but this? Needlessly confusing and ultimately pointless.

The Bible or God? - A Message to Formerbrother
by David_Jay in“i still can not find any other option that comes as close to all the bible as jws do.”-- from the profile of formerbrother.. this is lengthy, but it should help you, formerbrother.
the problem is not in your search for this "option" but that you are searching according the criteria set out by the jehovah’s witnesses (and likely following the reasoning set out by their claims).. before proceeding, understand clearly (as there will always be someone reading this that will skip this point that i make) that i am not writing to advance any particular religious view.
though raised and baptized as a jehovah’s witness in my late teen years, i am jewish.

Why didn't you send him a private message rather than outing him in a public post like this?

Odd choice of words
by Nevuela inwhy is it that when a jw gives someone a magazine, they use the word "place" instead of "give"?
as in "i placed a magazine with him".
and why do regular door-to-door jws of no special rank refer to themselves as publishers?

Well, the Apostasy Accusations Begins...
by Sorry inso, it finally happened.
the first time i have been called out for being an apostate.
it started out innocently enough: my family and i were watching a tv show.
-
Nevuela
Kudos for standing up to them. Next time you do, you might want to add:
1. that their precious God doesn't condone talking shit about people or casting judgment on them, and that includes "worldly" folks celebrating 4th of July
2. that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves because Jesus said that is the second most important commandment after loving God
3. that "worldly" people don't know any better because their interpretation of the Bible doesn't tell them do this/don't do this
4. that if you're not to have anything to do with "worldly" people, then you shouldn't even be watching TV, which is produced by, stars, and depicts characters that are, by the vast majority, non-JW/worldly. Nor should they seek out the help of worldly police, doctors, lawyers, gardeners, builders, etc.Take your pick.

Visit to my Psychiatrist today
by James Mixon ini told him i communicate with my dog, my dog informed me that the cute little french poodle two doors south is a slut.
my orange tree is not producing fruit this year, so i cursed it and told it i want you out of yard.and then i told him the other day i was at the race track (horses) and while passing the stables old turkey told me he will win his race today.
what do you think my psychiatrist diagnose for me.

They're usually smart enough to see through that kind of thing. He'll probably diagnose you with smartassism.
