This Is It?

" yeah, yeah, i know.

we've been on the brink of armageddon for well over a century, but what struck me about this particular instance was what she said next.

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies, and in such a short amount of time! It took a while to wade through them all. That last one with the Michael Jackson video really did it for me. Thanks, Betheliesalot. And thank you to everyone else for replying.

I've only ever studied with JWs and currently share a house with one (and been to a few meetings and conventions as well). I have no intention of joining them or any other religion. I was just wondering what distinct brand of lunacy to expect from the JWs I know in the near future.

I can't say much out of fear of getting caught, but I overheard a JW I know on the phone with a friend talking about "how close we are to the end." Yeah, yeah, I know. We've been on the brink of Armageddon for well over a century, but what struck me about this particular instance was what she said next.

She informed her friend that someone she knew (a CO or something similar, by the sound of it) had given her a little hint at what the big talk at the next annual convention (or assembly? Sorry, I get them confused and don't remember what she said) would be about. Apparently the title of said talk is going to be "This Is It!"

Does anyone here recall attending talks of a similar nature in years or decades past, where the belief was that the Great Tribulation was finally imminent? Did they talk about what to expect, (i.e. Revelation 8:13 means this and this will happen) or what steps to take in order to prepare and ride it all out?

anyways here is my very condensed story:.

"I remember my best friend and maid of honour calling me to encourage me. We spoke for about 5 minutes before she quickly ended the conversation and asked me if she could call me right back. She never called me back and I never spoke with her again. She even unfriended me from FB."

Honestly, that sounds very suspicious to me. If SHE called YOU to give YOU encouragement, there is no logical reason why she would then go on to behave the way she did. This leads me to suspect that someone on the other end of the line knew who she was talking to and coerced her into severing ties with you.

Was she married at the time? I lost a friend of mine when her husband turned her against me. Shortly before that, I remember her lamenting the fact that she had practically no female friends to speak of since marrying him, and yet she never seemed to make the connection. He was isolating her from everyone in order to control her.

a little back story.

i have been working so hard to build my faith this year, and i am finally at the point where i am beginning to trust god and i want to build an unbreakable relationship with him.

That aside, would you say the same of a woman who claims to have been physically abused by multiple men? Would you assume that there must be a reason for it? That she must have done something to deserve it if it's happened many times?

If Angels in the Bible are of neuter gender ? Then why are they always depicted as males by description and name ? And never a female ?

in all of the art i`ve seen in christendom, angels always have the form of a male, and in the bible those that are named always have a male name such as michael ,gabriel , etc, .

nowhere in the art world that i have seen do angels have the female form, and in the bible they don`t have female names.. so if the angels are neither male or female why then are they depicted as males with male names ?and not female also ?.

the watchtower illustrators also follow this line .when they illustrate an angel it is always in the form of a male and never a female form.. the anointed who make up the 144000 comprise of male and females right ?

What do you mean? Female angels are EVERYWHERE in modern art. A friend of mine collects angel figurines, and nearly every single one of the dozens and dozens that she owns is female in appearance. The very few males she has are mostly cherubs. I myself very rarely see male angels in any modern depictions of them. Here, just look at what I found during a quick Google image search:

I once asked a JW lady I was studying with why angels were more often than not depicted as female. Her response? Satan was using his influence over artists, sculptors, writers, etc. in order to make angels appear weak.

when eloise dupuis gave birth to her son in 2016, there were complications where a blood transfusion would have saved her live.

however, she refused and died; to the horror of the medical staff and the entire province of quebec.. two years later, there was a change in politics and the topic came back up in the media.

Okay, you need to seriously stop this BS. You are embarrassing yourself. The WT are the ones stripping people of freedom and forcing people into their mold, and you KNOW this. Stop spinning things around to suit your twisted logic. Victims of abuse will say and do anything out of fear of retaliation from their abusers. Don't you EVER blame victims for this. We have talked on this very site about how people have taken their own lives due to the fear and guilt placed on them as victims of the WT cult. What happened to Eloise is no different.

That snark was completely uncalled for. Besides, how would you define it? 'Several years ago' is far more accurate than 'a few years ago.' What, should she have said 'eons ago' instead?

Blood Transfusion Permitted

i just overheard an anointed acquaintance on the phone with a friend of hers who has just had surgery for cervical cancer.

among the snippets of dialogue i heard on my end of the line, these ones stood out:.

"you lost a lot of blood?

Morpheus I was in no way attempting to create any sort of "illusion." I was merely sharing an anecdote of an incident that surprised me, and was curious as to what other people thought of it and whether they have experienced anything similar.

I know that the WT has the gall to sing the praises of children who would rather die (and who HAVE died) rather than accept blood. I also know that they have gone so far as to applaud pregnant women who have risked their own lives and that of their unborn babies in order to uphold their gross misinterpretation of scripture.

There is no illusion they can create that will ever convince me that they are anything but evil.
