JW's and the forgotten Jesus
by LevelThePlayingField inso as i have been waking up more and more over the past 3 years...i keep telling myself i'm fully awake and then i wake up more, but that's a different thread.
but anyway, i've noticed a lot lately that the wt does not mention jesus or christ very much in their literature and neither to jw's in their conversations.
they mainly talk about jehovah.

Very brave to go around down-voting comments but not saying who you are or why you down-voted it. And I'm not just speaking for myself. I've noticed a lot of down-votes on this site on random people's posts that are completely non-controversial. Why all the hate?

JW Facebook Groups
by Nevuela inis anyone here familiar with the facebook group "jehovah's people: enduring these last days together"?
it's a closed group, so obviously you need to be a member in order to access any info or posts.
my anointed roommate is really frustrated because she's an admin and someone is taking miscellaneous posts from the group and posting it on their own page, which has the exact same name, minus the word "together.

I tried looking but I can't find it. She says he randomly posts pornographic content among the JW stuff.
Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with either group.

It was never, ever, a warning work, was it?
by jambon1 inmost witnesses i knew were exteeemly reluctant to go out in the ministry.
but when they did, they were simply scraping by, eager to avoid conflict and just do their hour or so speaking to lonely old ladies or widowed old men.
placing magazines in a car group, doing route calls, plodding along in the utter boredom of their responsibility to get some time on a report by the last day of the month.. this was never a warning work.

Black Sheep With people like that, I just say to them "Well, God knows the truth, and I'm pretty sure He doesn't approve of you lying, especially about His word." Of course, most of them are delusional enough to be able to commit the mental gymnastics necessary to keep themselves in the right, so it usually ends up being pointless. :p

JW's know how to guilt trip....
by HereIgo inwhen i left the org, the jw's tried their best to guilt trip me.
some of the questions i was asked and things i was told:.
"how could you possibly be happy outside of jehovah's organization?

William Penwell - I can't quote you directly because this site won't let me (how the hell is everyone else doing it, though?) but regarding the erasing of memories, there is one thing that doesn't make any sense: what if one or both of your parents aren't resurrected? Sure, God can erase them from your memory, but you will always know that you HAD parents. He can't possibly erase that fact. I mean, you'll look around and see parents and their children everywhere, and you'll know that you yourself certainly didn't just appear out of thin air. You'll KNOW that someone had to create you, and you would wonder who your parents are and WHERE they are. That's a sad thought.

redpilltwice - I would love to ask this person why Jehovah didn't bother to tell us that blood transfusions are a sin until fairly recently in human history. Did he want all those people to sin and doom themselves before he made his views on blood perfectly clear? And why did it take him millennia to "correct" his mistake? Hmmmmmm?

honest - Christianity is far more evil than Islam. Just look at the numbers, the sheer MILLIONS who have been killed in the name of the Christian god. Nowhere near as many have been killed in the name of Allah. And no, I'm not saying Islam is much better, but it IS far less evil than you think. NEVER just blindly believe what others tell you when you know damn well that they aren't religious scholars. Your average American knows jack shit about any religion outside of their own because they refuse to educate themselves, and it is that willful ignorance that leads to the death of innocent people.

Jesus, the Great Convincer?
by Simon insupposedly the disciples witnessed jesus' super-power awesomeness first-hand.. so they were all 100% on-board to-the-death martyrs ... right?.
erm .... judas betrayed him.
thomas didn't believe he'd come back.

Jesus forgave them, that's why they're included. And somebody HAD to betray him in order for him to be crucified. Do you honestly think the son of God (assuming there is one) would have no idea one of the disciples he chose would someday betray him?

Today's Text - Jehovah is my helper!
by Divergent intuesday, october 18. jehovah is my helper; i will not be afraid.—heb.
13:6.. “people often comment about how happy jehovah’s witnesses are,” says a longtime elder in a developing country.
“they also notice that even poor witnesses are always nicely dressed and appear to be better off than others.” this harmonizes with the promise jesus made to those who put the kingdom first.

3. “They also notice that even poor Witnesses are always nicely dressed and appear to be better off than others.”
Yes, because they're pressured to spend what little money they have on eye-pleasing outfits to wear to meetings. Women may be able to find nice dresses, blouses and skirts at thrift stores (some of the best clothes I've ever owned are from such places) but men and boys have no such luck. Those suits don't come cheap, and it's extremely rare to find one (in good condition, no less) at a thrift store, meaning they have to pay full price. Growing boys better hope they have an older brother to receive hand-me-downs from, or their poor parents will have to shell out $$$ for a new suit every few months.
