  New JW Scam?? Here in Australia...

  it's good to be back on here.... ok, is anyone aware of this particular scam that seems to be big here in adelaide, south australia.

  i've heard a couple of times were jw's have befriended old people (particularly one's that live by themselves) and get them to a) join up or b) become good friends with them.

  after being friends for a while the jw's 'suggest', 'coax' etc, to the old timer to put them down (the jw's) on their will.

  This is not unique to JWs vs Non JWs it happend to my family and all involve are JWs.

  Basically the old person goes senile and entrust their estate to some body (in our case a person at their hall they liked). The person gets the Dr to declare the old person unable to give informed consent so now the trust takes over is in effect giving the old person have the same legal rights as a child.

  It is a flaw in the court system not JWs. Many people with older relatives get scamed like this. The money gets frittered by the trust leaving an empty will full of things already sold. The watchtower says they can't get involved and don't want the money (legally they are so barracaded you can't get them out of brooklyn).

  Falsely claiming to be annointed

  what does the wts say happens to someone who claims to be annointed and partakes at the memorial if that person really isn't annointed?

  does someone who is honestly mistaken about being annointed meet the same fate as one cynically claiming to be annointed?

  this has probably been discussed before, but i can't seem to find it.. thanks all!.

  Whats the big deal I can find droves of annointed at Assemblies of God, Southern Baptists, Independent Baptists, black Protestants, African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion; Church of Christ, Churches of God in Christ, Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, National Baptist Church, National Progressive Baptist Church, Nondenominational, Pentecostal denominations, and the Presbyterian Church in America. All you need is some person believing the holy spirit is inside them.

  As for the 2 class system lets see heaven land and pretty purgatory? I don't see the problem. BTW I believe the JWs you have to be insane to think the holy spirit not only exist but has taken residence inside your body. I will never understand people that claim to be sane born again christians.

  I think it is like that brother who is a pro boxer. it depends on if the elders care in your area.

  Also since voting is protected there is no way of knowing.

  I argee with 1914. It is a boogy man made up to scare JWs and encourage good behavior. It is the JW version of hellfire. "If you sin you'll get disfellowshiped then people won talk to you " It only works because Jws make their fishbowl so small that they are totally alone when they are disfellowshiped.

  So how is this avenue policable many churchs dont recognize gay marriages or cerimonies. At least JWs recognize the person is married.

  What does a parochial custom have to do with the state? The state says to enter a marriage you have to terminate your old one. The elders only have the power to marry people. The state divorces them.

  disfellowshipping and shunning. Also there polcies on divorce and marriage

  um shunning is a personal freedom.

  The state has polcies on divorce and marriage not JWs.

  As for minors and blood it is all PR children do die but it is legally not the watchtowers fualt and they make sure of it. I know the blood issue when it comes to minors it is all hype. Sure you'll have elders, HLS, crying parents, angry Doctors, but it is all a PR engine and nothing more. The parents will be tricked the child will be transfused and the elders will pretend it never happend.

  As for adults refusing medical treatment is a person freedom.

  I think the problem every is getting at is unaminity. You dislike that normaly one or two people will use their rights and piss off the system, but with groups like JWs serveral thousand people will be pissing off the system because they all believe simular things. Sofar in a free society their is no way to prevent this unless you take the right to assymble.

  after reading cyber-sister's post about a jw who knocked on her door, i thought it might be a good idea to talk about preparing ourselves for the almost inevitable time when a jw will try to "preach to us" and try to get us to return.. like cyber-sister i met a jw fairly recently who immediately started preaching to me.

  she said jehovah had removed his holy spirit from me and that is why i can't see the "truth".

  at the time i was taken unawares and didn't really know what to say, apart from that i don't believe it anymore.

  Like Cyber-Sister I met a JW fairly recently who immediately started preaching to me. She said Jehovah had removed his holy spirit from me and that is why I can't see the "truth". At the time I was taken unawares and didn't really know what to say, apart from that I don't believe it anymore. Afterwards I was annoyed and pretty shook up (annoyance mostly).

  Unless you were anointed you never had the holy spirit. Anyone ever tell me that I am going off on them, and cutting them down with their own watchtowers.

  JWs believe it's best to die than take a blood transfusion. The WT. tells the world (p.r.) that JWs can make their own decision on such matters...LIE! Actually thats the truth. From personal exeperience "the watchtower" rather transfuse a jw and burry the incident then to have them die. The JWs mostly insist on taking as many blood products as possible then dieing for no reason. It is not really the watchtower at work here. A QFR says that it's up to a JW if they would vote yet COs in America say, "That only applies to other countries---not in the US".....JWs are deceptive!..... This is a harder issue but if you need you consult someone then it bothers you. Voting is protected you can do it in the mail. The CO has nothing to do with it, and last time I checked COs dont write watchtowers. Regarding being "worse than normal liars", JWs are supposed to be beacons of truth. They are no part of the world. They are seperate and clean. I would not minimize their actions. They should be held MORE accountable! I have never known JWs to be beacons of truth. I have not known them to be separate or cleaner than anyone else, just less tolerant and irritable. Holding them more accountable than whom, and for what reason?
