I should add they take no action (in general) for who you associate with. They have 2 general classes of people JWs and "worldly people". It makes little diffrence in that light. They generally don't pass judgement on "worldly" people other than them not being JW. Not being a JW is a blemish on your character to many JWs.

Any sexual contact outside of marriage is considered fornication. Since gays could not get married that solved the issue. Now they may redefine homosexual relations to exclude married homosexuals. I believe at one time if a married person commited same sex adultry it was not ground for divorce because adultry was interpeted to be between a man and woman. 3) Depends on who is in charge of what. The watchtower is ran by its board members it used to be ran by the socalled "governing body", but it is not anymore. The kingdom halls are separate legal entities ran officially by the body of elders that on its corporate charter. The congregations are "ran" by the elders in that congregation, and the circuit and district overseers pop in to check on them every few months. The system is very parochial and loosly linked with no standards of accountability. I assume if you could ever buy out a body of elders you could do what ever you want. Dang we need a JW mafia.

) discouraged, have any of you known persons of higher education to be in the organization, either by completing it while in or became jw afterwards?
Speaking of hypocracy. What is with JWdoms lawyer stable. In the new order there will be no need for lawyers so why are so many encouraged (if their parents happen to be well off) to be WT lawyers? I also notice a crabs in a bucket complexe. The more uneducated the hall the more demonized college is. Seems like they would encourage people to spend a few years in college so they could work part time for the same pay so they could work in feild service.

There is a big misconception about Witnesses, so hopefully I'm doing my bit to change that.

I am not going to disagree, but how do you explain the watchtower legal department? It did not grow out of thin air.
I believe that the more "shortsighted" professions were hounded more than those "you could use in the new order". The only rip on college that buzzed around here was "bad association" if you lived at a dorm. Considering where I live their are about 5 universities in reasonable driving distance that was never a problem for anyone in the city. They had ended the college "ban" by the time I finished high school.

from what you have seen, are most witnesses encouraged to get married---just so that they don't sin?
Married my wife at 21 as was she. Both gagging for it so it seemed the right thing to do. Still together after 14 years and have 2 great kids. Like any marriage we have ups and downs but have manged to weather the storm even though we are no longer attending meetings. Would I marry older if I had a second time around? Yes.
Okay maybe you guys don't get me. I live in the ghetto so forgive me. Many people here at 21 are not married, have 2 or more kids, and never have been married. So maybe I am too jaded to see the importance of marring older. Can you explain it in more universal terms.
I am not trying to sound like a prick, but when I see a barely legal single mother I drop her newborn off at the day care I wish she was married. Socio-economically it works better even if they divorce in the future.

Considering that JWs allow you to divorce, but not disassociate without consecquences you are right!
i am curious about the history of disfellowshipping and disassociation doctrines.
i know that they changed the da rules when ray and co were leaving so that no one could talk to people who disassociated themselves -- to close the loophole.
i am wondering if that's also when the df rules also became more harshly and strictly enforced.
I know the DA policy is still a loop hole. For legal reasons they can't directly tell you to shun DAed people. Not that the DAed person could sue, but because in other countries to be legal they have to set it up that way. Notice how if you read the magazines they never mention how to treat DAed people except in their "how to treat DF people articles". Here are snips from a article on DAing. It never actually says to shunn a DAed person. It only implies you can. It renames Disassociation to "rejects the congregation". This is all legal positioning to tell people to shun DAed people with out saying it.

Can anyone explain to a jaded young man with no faith in the system what "too young means". Unless you plan on being a kept woman or a farm hand 16 is auguably too young. Once you start getting in the age where you can buy a house and commit to a 20 year mortgage or military service I would need explaining on what too young means.
