  Illustration of burning cities while JW's rejoice?

  i remember once seeing an older watchtower publication, i believe it was a study book from the late '60s or early '70s, in which one illustration showed a city with large buildings in the background, all burning and in ruins.

  in the foreground, a group of well-groomed jw's smile joyously and raise their arms in praise to jehovah, apparantly thanking him for destroying civilization, but at least allowing them to live.

  the picture was a little unsettling at the time, and now with the threat of terrorism, even more so.. does anyone remember which publication this image was from?

  There was a talk once. THe brother said "well brothers you know how some of us are stubborn thinking we could make our own way with out an education what do we do now that our wives are making more than us buying their own cars and clothes. We made our bed we gotta lay in it." He went into the bible about a capable wife.

  Maybe it works for other elders but in our hall all the elders wifes mostly make sunday because they work late or take night classes.

  pure reason that: if so everybody can be closely watched, monitored, and known!.

  Actually I hear the largest problem to division is stistical lack of men, and even the larger lack of men "free of accusation" and "of one wife". Now that they are making multi congregational background checks for elders there will be even fewer. I have heard of sisters doing the ms job of taking the groups out on week days except they never get credit for it.

  there is no exception to this rule...the name "jehovah's witnesses" applies specifically to god's annointed ones who have been taken out of the world and made witnesses for jehovah, and these alone bear the new name.

  the official organization of jehovah on earth consists of his annointed remnant, and the jonadabs who walk with the annointed are to be taught but not be leaders.

  Actually they don't stop you but they will almost demand to study with you afterward until they are satisfied you sound JW enough.

  And not to confuse the issue but they clam to only be associated with "God's spirit-directed organization." for unknown reasons the never say who or what the SDO is. The definition hovers around the FDS but the FDS definition is even fuzzier which hovers around two or more anointed people working together. THe definition of anointed comes from the bible, and generally means what many people call born again christians, but the watchtower adimantly defends that only God knows who is a true born again christian and there is no way for mortal man (not even the person making the claim) to tell. You see the problem?

  Yes that is what the watchtower teaches.

  How many missionaries are "International Bible Students" :P

  The UU church BTW seems to work with multi denominational undertones. I am really not trying to confuses but so many people believe the advertising the watchtower uses. When that is not the reality. Remember the watchtower said everyone from Able, Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, Martin Luther was a Jehovah's Witness. Considering that most would consider Luther a Lutheran and John a Jew you could say that it is more to do with perception than docterine. I it would not be almost embarassingly difficult to orcastrate you could baptise anyone a Jehovahs witness oddly when the elders find out thats a different story.

  Maybe this is why there is such a generation gap between the old JWs that leave and new ones that leave. The watchtower seems to have lost hope in armageddon so they are really down playing it. THey dont want you to speculate on any part of it really. It went from crystal clear pictures of technicolor mass destruction to all non jws to a phantom spirit war.

  I know the old jws like to get on the podium and try to ressurect the armageddon of old but my like a story tell at a campfire once the the morning comes the ghost are gone. It is back to the watchtowers official jibberish about gog magog. Why did the phase out such a strong part of the jw message. Even if armageddon was pushed far off the flesh eaten plagues, and mass genocide could still be kept with todays sensibilities the pictures can be even more gory.

  What killed the great fear inspiring day of Jehovah?

  Actually once the police are involved that is a common practice for the elders to treat you like you dont exist. THis is all for legal reasons. Their favorite saying is "our hands are tied". Thats why the pedophile issue shocked me. I guess unlike you parents dont call the police first.
