This is a common tactic. My great grandmother was "retired" her pioneer card around age 90 (she actually was a first gen JW that knew knorr personally). THe brothers just came up and told her she war no longer a pioner. THe reason was basically she was to old, could not drive, and they got tired of takingng her out for like 90 hours a month. THe odd thing is with the hours reduction she would still be a poineer today.

~Please help answer this question about a Watchtower doctrine~
by FlyingHighNow indoes anyone know what year the wtbts started teaching the mortality of the soul doctrine?
did it preceed the earthly hope doctrine?
i'm curious to know if the wtbts started teaching that your body is your soul, so that they could explain what happens to those with an earthly hope or who look forward to an earthly, fleshly resurrection.. knowing the answer to this question would help me let go of that brainwashing, that we don't have a separate, spirtual soul.

It has always been a JW/BS (bible student) belief. CTR and the other founders called it conditional immortality I believe. Rememer CTR was a young presbytarian and became involed in the advent movement because he did not believe god would predetermine at birth who would go to hell. THe odd effect was him and his buddies totally discarding hellfire. So conditionaly immortality was that you go to heaven or just die. Since everyone was anointed the twinkle of an eye/ october 1914 we are all going to heaven negated the need for a soul because either way you were zapped to heaven. It got slowly refined to no soul years later. The perfect clone doctrine was basicaly an implied fluke for people that had wait in the ground till judgement day.
RR can probally fill in the parts I messed up, but in general it was always a JWish belief even before the great crowd was placed on earth.

That poor sob. My bethel freind was telling me that jws are ran by the branches and not the wts, for example each one has a different KM. So your stance on blood is decided not by the GB, but the branch. The NY headquarters caught a fire storm from the branches recently because it usurped their authority and allowed ALL fractions. Before the branches choose what treatments were allowed (oddly notice the branch was closed and did not issue a statement).
The bottom line is here his child would be given blood the HLC brothers would not have allowed him to escalate the situation to the point of getting arrested (they very explicitly tell you this). Nobody talks about this but the double standard is scary. It is malawi mexico all over again.

Saturday morning house to house not good enought anymore!

they critisized us for going house to house implying that it was cheating the system and just a way to get fs hours with out talking to people.
now they want jws to do mostly bus and business witnesses in the afternoon during weekdays.

One example was a talk on reading to your children. They actually turned "to God's word the bible for the answer". The bible blah blah "from infancy". "The word infant means non-speaking, that means we should read to our children before they can talk." Wow if it was not for the bible (or sesame street) some toddler would never have been read to! I can't wait until they make a talk on the bibles veiw of obesity. I wonder what the bible says?

My biology teacher who was quite a globe trotter when he was young said no matter where you are no matter how clean the water looks or how good it taste if you didnt bring it with you dont drink it. Not only do you have the bugs but often mining runoff especially in other countries fo example if there is a gold mine near by you maybe be drinking mercury.

What if there are already people on those other worlds. I mean peple all that space can't be for nothing, but um what if all the prime realestate is taken. Also women loose the ability to concive in about 50 years. Won't there be sex after 50? Considering the women will be pefect it would be really hard for guys to swoon them. 50 years may just be first base for most guys.

I wonder what is healthier people have said dying of thirst vs drinking urine. What about drinking urine vs questionable or non potable water. Unrine in general is pathogen free water in a ditch or stream may not be. Someone should do a statistic on drinking your unrine vs the most common water conditions on earth. Number one most water is too salty. So maybe the ocean should be excluded, but you get the Idea.

Two for two failed in G of Eden, not good odds
by pennycandy inreading recent posts about the creation account, i remembered a thought i had as a teenager.
jehovah created two perfect people, sat them down in a custom-designed garden, tended to their every need, and told them to fill the earth with more perfect people.
given the explanation of free will, i suppose odds would dictate that a certain percentage of earth's inhabitants would stray and be cut off.

Just came from the assembly. They critisized us for going house to house implying that it was cheating the system and just a way to get FS hours with out talking to people. Now they want JWs to do mostly bus and business witnesses in the afternoon during weekdays. "It is more fufilling to reach people than to just count time" Their general spin is that h2h is ineffective, and so is speaking english. Not they want us to learn a foriegn laguage so we can bother people at work, or trying to get to work. This is an asinine religion. The same thing the "churches' say about preaching was sumerized in the talk "People don't like being bothered at home", but the solution is just as bad as the previous one.
Also we are preaching wrong. Now we are not suppossed to give talks or presentations that are bad news or "negative". We are suppossed to bring "the kingdom hope". Basically they are saying the same thing the critics are saying that we unafairly emphasize the bad in other people. They said we are "turning people off".
Lately I have been feeling like "apostates" are running the watchtower. Because every thing the watchtower has taught in the last few years is being replaced by basicaly cookie cutter secular advice. It is like the churches have been around longer than the wts and already know this stuff, but the hyper active upstart the wtbs assumes it was all satans system holding back "the truth". Now after over 100 years of hard knocks they are realizing um... maybe round wheels do work best? Maybe this whole vacume cleaner sales man routine is obsolete in anyplace with eletricity and indoor plumbing?
