Do you know any JW's that were Disfellowshipped or Reprooved over 3 times?

a girl i work with told me the other day that she is going to the elders and ask them to "reinstate" her for the 4th time.

i told her she must be out of her mind.

why would any jw go through all of that headache?

I heard a brother say "disfellowshiping only test your heart condition. If you love jehovah it will only make you stronger. look at me I was disfellowshiped, and now I am and elder! *jolly chuckle*"

The problem the watchtower has is some of its edicts are so irrational they are untennable. So many people separate the watchtower, from Jehovah. For example they may fornicate (the wts definition) because Jehovah doesn't mind, but they'll never take blood. Now that they want to get married, have kids or their boyfriend or girlfrind left them after they had sex a few months, back to the halls they go to get reinstated because we have Jehovah you see.

I think the "truth believers" or credible JWs are the ones that do get effected, but those are not the people the watchtower wants. They don't want people that will stand for their own priciples or die. Those people are "stiff necked", or unwilling to take counsel. They want maliable, or liquid people that conform to the shape of any mold they are pressed into in.

A religion with nothing to Celebrate

how sad that the witnesses have nothing to celebrate.

the more i think about it since i stopped going to the meetings, the more i feel that spirituality and religion are about opportunities to give thanks and to celebrate life with family and friends.

christenings or name giving ceremonies celebrate the gift of a new life to a family.

I don't know I see JWs as the penultimate religion for jaded teenagers and awkward ungainly young adults. You never have to worry about what to wear, speaking with people, learning a friends likes or dislikes, trusting anyone but your self, or what to do or say at ANY party. Your life or the life of others don't really matter because we are all gonna die and stop existing, or be destoryied in some horrible manner. If you actually do live an okay life you can look forward to eternity in a paramilitary dictatorship where every misgiving is punishable by instant death. It is like the fat goth chick of religion.

If the WTS wanted more young people they should just tell it like it is. I am sure the seattle area could instantly reap another 1 or 2 million new jws from this alone and if they get to santa cruz dear lord! But wait jaded teenagers don't have alot of money, and tend to be skeptical of authority. Oh thats why they don't push that angle.

They don't even know if they are going to have a gb after they all die. The GB is like a traffic cop for the commitees (who actually do everything). So if the commitees ever decide to be polite and work together autonimously there is no phsysical reason for a GB. They are legally only JW monks anyway and are not related to the watchtower.

She will never know her grandchildren. She has lost her daughter. She lost her best friend

I am sorry she "lost" them, but unless they are dead I believe you mean she never wants to be reinstated. The topic of this tread is recitivism among JWs. Much like criminals that don't mind being incarcerated a second, or third time many jws don't mind being dfed again, and again.

It is the people that I assume like your mother is never going to set foot in a hall again that seem to be effected. For people like the one that inspired this thread whom plan on being a JW until they die being dfed has no net effect except maybe temporary embarassment.

I know at least 4 or 5 people. This is what I am trying to broad caste to people on this board. The DFings are meaningless. It is like getting a W on your tms part. Since you never graduate you can keep getting "w" for eternity and it wont effect the out come. In jws if you are a "bad" JW there is no real punishment.

Now I know alot of people have storys about shunning and custody and whatever, but if you sincerely look at it being DFed carries no weighty consequnces. Look at JWs and adultery. The elder well go head hunting if you are single and it is even implied you are have sex. If you are married you can cheat all you want. And if you separate, divorce and remarry it is even worse. Sure you may get dfed but from personal expierience i have seen that married adulterors are reinstated way faster than a single fornicator. They even bring the new partner to the meetings and the friends seem to not mind.

THe bigger trick the wts has set up is to humiliate people to the point of them never wanting to set foot in a hall again. This is because the longer you stay around with confidential info and a mental record of all the local scandals the more of a liablity you are. You can even coach people on how to beat the system.

Considering that it was emphasized the most on the circuit assymbles you may be right maybe just our co or the local branch is deciding to change the message. Considering that NY has deliberately relinquished alot of power to the branches it could just be regional, but KOTW is a perfect example of a armageddonless armageddon track. If you want to be fancy you can totally omit the up and comming carnage. It reminds me of all those old westerns kids used to watch where the hero kills about 50 bloodless men with impunity, and people called that wholesome entertainment.

So over all at least for the KOTW push months we are not "supposed to" mention armageddon. Maybe they dont want to taint the release of this publication and the revenue it may bring so they are drilling extra hard to stay away from the armageddon stuff. Because I really doubt a single CO would instantly decide armageddon is a taboo subject at the door. I mean people still call JWs a dooms day cult(even thought we haven't bunkered down since 1914) so I can see how that would hurt sales.

In the 90's the wts said (i assume an angel came and told the writing dpt) that armageddon will have some speacial effect on the surviviors that will eliminate PTSD and frightening memories of the destruction and carnage. So maybe in 10 years they will say that Jehovah is not a cruel god and will have the angles kill people in their sleep like he did with the egpytian first born or something.

If you mean KOTW that actually does not have any pictures of armaggedon in it. Ill dig it out to see if it uses the word but I doubt it. It was more of a cry for attention than a real brochure. "The world sucks, read our books please we really are relivant. And if you are bapitized why the hell aren't you handing out these brochures? You don't wana get destroyed by the romans or the flood of noah do you? And the romans prove the flood of noah happend so there!"

That is more what is confusing me how can you peddle the end of the world as we know and not comment on the terror, destruction, and death? It is the theological equvalent of being a early 80's tabbaco advertising exec.

Blondie nobody objects to destroying evil. It is part of human nature to fear the dark and try todestroy it with light. So I am ready to hear the wts start sampling GW Bush'es words. I mean half of americans voting public agrees with the "evil" must be stopped all cost attitude.

It is funny how it took two of the worlds tallest buildings to fall into their front lawn for them to go "You know killing scores of people in an instant, and reducing their neighborhood to rubble in the name of religion is evil. Let alone the whole world. Hmm, maybe we should re-think some of our belief system?"
