this situation concerning the watchtower and hitler got me into a train of thought that i wanted to share here....

when we think about it, this antisemetic behavior of wts foreshadowed a full-blown pattern of narrow-minded views of others, and how it has escalated into what we see in this hatefilled and controlling organization today.

You may b interested in a new book being published right now regarding Hitler and the Watchtower. It is by Dr. James Penton. He wrote the book, "Apocolypse Depayed," a very honest and detailed history of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is a must read and highly complements Ray Franz's books.

Jim Penton is a former JW ... and a professor of History at the University of Toronto, Canada. He is now retired ... but has written a number of books. You can be sure that his treatment of the JWs will be honest, fair, and balanced ... but, it is a book that I think many ex-JWs should read.

Is the Administration Planning Another War?

i've been reading and reading, thinking and thinking.

it is hard to understand why president bush chose to come out in support of sharon right at this moment, when things in iraq are at their most difficult and sensitive.

people are saying he has only inflamed the situation even more than before and has further endangered the troops.

Yes ... I believe they have one or several more wars in the works ... I speculate that it will be Iran, Syria, North Korea, and possibly Saudi Arabia unless clean up their act. Also possibly Lebanon and/or assist Israel to clean up Palestine and get rid of Arafat.

I am not taking sides with my speculation ... at least not until November when I cast my vote.

as jws we learned the utmost central watchtower doctrine that jesus returned "invisibly" in 1914 (well it was 1874, but then j. f. rutherford decided jesus really, really, really returned at a later date ... this is also known to jws as "jesus second presence" (greek: parousia = english: presence):.

If public zeal means anything in the worship of God, then JWs aren't even in the running.

Amen brother!!! Praise Jesus ... Thank you Jesus ... Amen!!! You are 1000% correct ... when I walked into the Baptist church for the first time after leaving the JWs ... I was likewise stunned ... first they spent about a half hour praying for everyone under the sun ... concern first for people ... then they spent about an hour on song ... bring down the house ... then the Preacher gave a 5 min pep talk ... then it was coffee and donuts ...

To JWs, a "talk" is worship ... to Evangelicals, "singing and prayer" are worship ... mmmmm ... this seems like an odd picture indeed ...

PS: Evangleicals are still brain-dead on many issues like the "flood" and "evolution" ... but, all in all they offer a heathier environment over and above the Watchtower world.

i read 'em all - well glance at them all - don't you?.

trouble is i am a bit of a skimmer and suspect that i may sometimes miss out on the big news.

the thread about the un and ngo's was umpteen pages long before i even read it, yet when i did, wow!.

Yep, like you and others, I do not read everything ... I barely read half of what I did a year ago.

I seem to miss out on all the fight threads ... until I learn that someone has been booted ...

I didn't miss out on the UN thing ... I saw it a long time ago, but it didn't seem that big a deal right at first, that is, I thought that maybe it was just another small Watchtower business deal ... it was not until Hawkaw made it clear that the UN verified that Watchtower had committed to the UN mission, goals and principles in the NGO status before it really took hold.

What I feel bad about are good research threads that add to the body of information showing the false teachings and hypocrisy of the Society that seem to go unoticed and with few comments.

Unlearning what one has learned.Can it be done?

it has been said that one cannot unlearn what one has learned.when it comes to all the years of learning from the watchtower, is it easy or hard for you to unlearn, get it out of your mind so to speak and go on to learn newer and more meaningful things outside the walls of the watchtower.. when i was active in the watchtower there was the potentially endless cycle of assertions, analysis, counterassertions, qualifications, redefinitions, exceptions,extentuations, complications, hidden presuppositions, emotional colorings,and summations, ad infinitum.it had been exhausting.but now, i find a measure of relief, not from unlearning but from dismissing from my mind all of what i have learned from the watchtower for over 30 years.. and yet from time to time all those things taught by the watchtower for all those years resurface on my mind,so for me it is not easy to unlearn what i have learned.what about you?.

Good post! It takestime to unlearn JW mentality ... it is easier if a person was not raised a JW, so then they have something to draw upon and set as a baseline ... but, no matter how much unlearning goes on, or how effective ... I don't believe that we can ever forget ... at least not completely.

As others have already stated, Ray and his wife Cynthia are doing okay. He remains involved in translating his books into other langauges ... if you go to the Commentary Press site that I link below, you will see his books are now available in many languages. He also makes periodic updates to his first book, "Crisis of Conscience", such as adding information on the Watchtower membership in the United Nations.

i was shopping at wally world today, still in uniform from having taken my daughter to her therapy session.

i was at the jewlry counter staring at gift ideas for my 9th anniversary (nine years today).

as i was looking at things a woman came up beside me, touched my shoulder, and said "thank you for serving our country!

in finding the holiday in dixie treasure.

every year the city i live in puts out clues to find $1000 prize hidden somewhere in the city.

i believe it has to be located somewhere on public property.

My Dad grerw up un Shreveport ... cool ... I have an idea, but I need to think about it ... it is definitely not buried, but well above ground ... and located to the boundary between two Parishes (called Counties in other states). - Jim W.

I read it ... it was very disappointing, especially compared to the exciting and bombastic articles on the same topic we got in the late 1960s and early 1970s ... however, it is good to see how they are gradually introducing changes in their theology, allowing for some compromise ... at this rate, with these pathetic and milk-toast articles and gradual improvement in theology, they will be main stream along side Southern Baptists by about the April 1st, 2666 article ... where they simply will not know anymore what to say ... the pages will be blank ... By 1970 standards - you know the pre-Armageddon excitement days - this article would be a good April fools joke.

Jackson's Body Guards Charged - Pay Attention to this case!!!

it was reported in the news on fox today that michael jackson's body guards, who were reportedly present at the time he allegedly molested young boys, have also been criminally charged by the police.

this is very important, because these allegations go back to the early 1990s.

so, if the law then and now holds ancillary parties responsible in a "criminal" charge, then one must wonder if the civil claims being made against the watchtower could also have criminal charges filed against the watchtower society and its chain of command.
