My in-laws always pressured us to attend. We actually did once about 5 years ago. We were trying to get along as they didn't agree with shunning us,,even though elders had constantly pressured them too..It was surreal actually.. It was like being stuck in time warp. and it all seemed so silly and pathetic.. Elders told us if we wanted to come back we would have to sit at the back of the hall with no one talking to us for months until they felt we had proved ourselves "worthy' to be reinstated.. Blah..blah.. whatever.. made us realize what a waste of time the whole religion is..I felt sorry for everyone there ,,trapped in their way of thinking it was their way to everlasting life.

Thanks for posting. It was very entertaining..lol.. even the elders looked embarrassed by the whole thing. My husband and I actually disassociated ourselves. and the most we got was a phone call telling us it would be announced at the meeting that nite that we were no longer associated.. It was interesting seeing how the whole disfellowshipping debacle is carried out.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN LIFE?
by Mary insince we were never really allowed to "have goals" while we were witnesses (other than becoming a pioneer or going to bethel), what goals have you set for yourself now that you're free?
i'm pursuing my ba, but i'm not sure in what field i want to major in...maybe religious studies!

What Went Thru Your Mind While Sitting at The Meetings?
by minimus ini used to listen but not really.
i'd look at the platform/speaker stand, look like i was paying attention, get antsy, and find another elder to "discuss" something ith.
i just got to the meeting----right before it was to start and if the talkative po decided that his last part was going to go overtime, i'd put on my coat and look at the big clock on my way out in front of everyone and leave for the local bar.

I was shunned today in the post office.
by outoftheorg inwell this poor jw walked to the table to sort out the throw aways just as i headed there also.. i saw him and smiled, then he dropped his head to not look at me.
we both sorted out the things for the trash bin and were only about 20 or so inches apart.. i remember him coming to my house when my daughters were young girls and he wanted to get aquainted.. maybe i should have spoken to him but i just looked at him and he refused to even look back.. how sad.
he always has this really sad disappointed look on his face.

Shunning someone because they don't agree with your way of thinking is how a small child behaves with another child when they don't get their way. It shows how the borg teaches people to be simple minded ,self centred and affraid to think or reason or their own..

sometimes i feel like i spend to much time visiting the forum but then i remember that when i left the org.
my social circle went from literally hundreds down to about 5 or 6.. so no guilt at all--i'm glad to to be here and am grateful to everyone of you!

ITs a great place to come to a few times a month to keep up all the new " light " being revealed about the hippocrasy of the borg and share feelings ideas with others who have lived a similar life of Dub and then breaking free.... Its nice to hear your life is keeping you so busy Richie.

I really don't think anyone has the answers to what is "the truth". No one really knows what happens when we die..where we go or why we die..It all speculation and really based on a book called the Bible written by a bunch of men who may or may not be god-inspired, I think it up to each one of us to research and decide what is the best belief for us individuality. I don't really think there is a right or wrong answer.... The only way we will know is one day we will eventually pass from this life. Guess then you find out.. 1: you are gone for good and you should have made the most of this life when you had the chance....2: there is a god and you are happily co-habitating with god and Jesus in heaven...I don't personally believe in God .. but I do believe we live on in some spirit form after death.... Just my belief
