Last year , Paula was on Dr.Phil's valentine special crying and saying how lonely she is and how she can't seem to find the right man to have a relationship with. Not sure if you watched it , but they set her up on a few blind dates and she had to pick one to go out on a real date with..Not sure how that ended.. but maybe she is just really unhappy in her personal life.Whatever it is,,hopefully she doesn't do anything really stupid to mess up her career. I always watch the show every year. I think this year had the craziest tryouts yet..I don't like when Simon gets so over the top mean,,like when he told the young guy he looked like a monkey.. Anyways, I am looking forward to the competitions this year again.

by free2beme ini have always been open about the fact that i really like watching the american idol show, but never buy any cd's by the winners.
i am glad it is back on this season, and yet recently i have been watching some shows on it.
there is something i never noticed, but now i can not wait to watch each show to see if it is really true.

No....... we are Jehovahs Witnesses
dubs always seem to feel the need to announce who they are, because they feel they are special and you should be impressed.,,Its all part of the cult mind control

Have you recovered financially since leaving the Tower?
by lovelylil inremember how many families (maybe even yours) struggled with money issues while being a jdub?
i remember lots of families under stress due to being jdubs.
you are always told by the tower not to work overtime if it conflicts with the meetings and not to go for higher education, for the same reason.

Yes, we are much better off now. My husband was able to take courses and work towards a better paid position in his company. All my children are attending college and university so they will have good paying jobs and jobs they will enjoy.
When we were first married and good mind controlled dubs, my husband tried to get started in his own business, while he was also working fulltime. Elders counselled him and other brothers talked to him about how it would pull him away from the org. We unfortunately listened to them and gave up the business. We would have been much better off at this time.
But the best thing is.. we are no longer mind numbed dubs!!!

My Blog...
by tall penguin ini started writing a blog just before christmas.
it's not specifically about being a jw but it does address that along with what it's like to leave and have to rebuild your life and let go of illusions.
it's really about my ongoing thoughts.

by RULES & REGULATIONS instagnant.
adj.not moving or flowing; motionless.
foul or stale from standing: stagnant ponds.showing little or no sign of activity or advancement; not developing or progressing; inactive: a stagnant economy the sunday talks are copy and paste .the watchtower study is the same.ask the preprinted questions and answer.the ministry school is reading the same parts of the bible.the service program has the same dull presentations.the book study has some books being read 3 - 4 times.. is the watchtower society happy with being stagnant and just going thru the motions?

Well,, Its kind of hard for a bunch of old men who never lived in the outside world and probably are wearing depends by now, to keep coming up with more
'new light" BS...Besides as others mentioned,, brainwashing and mindcontrol work much better when the same things are constantly being regurgitated

Elder wisdom ???
by KAYTEE inthis is elder wisdom in play, at my last congregation they had a map mounted on the wall of the whole territory, this was divided into small segments and given a number, thus producing a quantity of smaller maps.
( a bit like a jig saw puzzle) which was also given a corresponding number.. they then had a colour coding system of round stickers, red, blue and green.
red = territory not covered in 2 years.

My father-in- law was an elder for a few years before he died. I remember being at his house one time when he was frantically searching thru his KH service bag. You know the one that holds all the "important" info. He said he was searching for an important paper that another elder had given him to read and he couldn't find it. I had to stiffle a smile that anything he had dealing with the org would be in any way important..(unless it was someone planning to expose more of their lies).
I always remember one evening when he was sweating over a public talk he had to give ,, because it had " lots of highlights".. so it was difficult for him to put together.Ahh.. the trials of being an elder..

Look what I got last night :)
by misanthropic inhe's 7 weeks old, he's a chocolate lab and i named him tony.
his eye isn't messed up it just looks that way because i was trying to get his face to look forward while i pushed the button all at once.
he kept me up all night last night crying, but hopefully just like with my beagle he will outgrow that.

your puppy is so cute!!.. We have a yellow lab who is now 9 years old.. you can see him in my avatar. He was loads of work as a puppy, but after the first year, he settled down . He has a great temperment also. So good with children, he loves to give them doggy kisses. and of course being a lab, his favorite thing to do besides eating is swimming..you will have so much fun with him.

Lack of gatherings means the congregation only exists in the Kingdom Hall
by truthseeker inthis is the situation with my congregation and i wonder if it is the same with yours.. as many of you know, the watchtower is not known for organising social gatherings of any kind for relaxation or enjoyment.. many of us only come into contact with witnesses while going to meetings and going out on field service.. as soon as you leave the hall, the congregation ceases to exist, in my mind anyway.. when you go back to the hall, the congregation exists, but only for the time you are there.. think about it - you spend 2 hours sitting and perhaps 10 minutes talking during each meeting.
if you have no friends in the hall that you see on a regular basis, then you feel like you're on your own until the next meeting.. .
my point is this: for those who still go but are not invited out anywhere, particularly if they are fading, do you feel that the congregation only exists in the kingdom hall?

There was informal roller skating on sunday nights
Funny,, as teens in the 70's we used to go rollerskating on Sunday nites. It was a great way to meet other cute guys(jws of course). Must have been a universal dub thing. It did stop by the end the 70's though.. Teens weren't alllowed to do anything fun that wasn't watchtower related. Can anything watchtower related be remotely fun or even interesting?
Ok, Does anybody have pre-arrangements? (85% of hands go up) Well, looks like we are good to go.
I remember that too. There was an elderly woman crippled in a wheelchair who always had to ask around for someone to help her get around at assemblies. Some sisters complained that it should be arranged for her by the brothers,, but it never was.
Now I guess misery loves company at the KH and every there pretends at the meetings that they really are happy,,at least for an hour or so until the meeting ends.
