KLS, we know you're a bad monkey. Especially when you join up with certain company. No names mentioned. We have the advantage of knowing you better than you know us. We've been watching from the sidelines for a long time now.

at least, we began to fade.
it took a few years before they gave up on us.

Thanks Chrissy. Yes, I love the sound of the cello. I switched to it from violin.

That's funny GBL. I have to say, I've never thought of a name using that context before. LOL Skully, I always knew I was in trouble when I got the three syllable version.

Thanks Stilla, Goldminer and Kazar. Lots of interesting topics and people.

does this sound like the jw organization you know today?
yes, on july 17th, 1970, my wife and i were baptized as jws at the "men of good will" district assembly (convention today), at the oakland, california coliseum - where the raiders play.
nearly 70,000 attended, and over 750 were baptized ... and it all made the news in the san francisco chronicle & examiner and other newspapers and radio stations.
Thanks for starting this topic Jim. We look forward to hearing more of your story. Your series was one of the first things we read when we got online. I wasn't raised a JW, but my husband was a teenage JW in that time period. This thread has brought back alot of memories for him.

Thanks again for the welcomes. The other part of the "we" is my husband. Thankfully we saw the truth about the "troof" at the same time. Thanks for the warning Jeannie, we've been here long enough to know who to look out for. Speaking of monkies, I think my fingers are about to become busier now that I'm posting and not just reading.

Thanks Merry,
I'm sure we (hubby and I) will post more as we get used to it. We're here everyday, sometimes twice a day.

Thanks for the welcome, everybody. It took alot to crawl out of that woodwork.

Hi, yes, I'm really a cellist. I'm not that good and that's not me in the picture.

We "faded" more than a decade ago. At least, we began to fade. It took a few years before they gave up on us. When we first got a computer we googled "Ray Franz". Amazing's story of his exit was one of the first things we found. That led us to Randy's site, freeminds. From there we found this site. We lurked for about a year until we got the nerve to sign up. Now, after reading Amazing's latest post, we finally got the nerve to post ourselves. His post stirred up alot of memories, some good and some bad. So, hello everybody. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those responsible (you know who you are) for re-introducing the term "happified" to our vocabulary. LOL
