  What's your favorite classical music?

  of course beethoven's fifth is tops for me, and the ninth close behind.

  also sprach zarathustra - strauss.

  fanfare for the common man - aaron copeland (what a nice thing that was for him to dedicate such a great piece of music to plebeians like me *sniff*).

  Our music collection covers everything from Renaissance to Modern (not too sure about most of that modern stuff though). Mostly we listen to Baroque, Classical and some Romantic. We get to play all kinds of music, including Pop music, in our Community Orchestra.

  A few specific pieces we like are; "The Trout", by Schubert, "Cappiccio Espanole", by Rimsky-Korsakov, "Scottish Fantasy", by Bruch, "Romance No2", by Beethoven and "Cello Concerto in G Major", by Boccherini.

  And opera. I love opera!

  i'm at my daughter's home just north of houston in the woodlands.

  she's going to help me get social security disability.

  i've done all i can to help other disabled people.

  A few facts about my obsession, errr, hobby

  this is to comemerate my reaching the 100 gigabyte mark in my music collection.. i haven't listened to it all yet as sometimes i'm downloading at around 180k per second and that is quicker than you can possibly listen to it.. i now have collected 1285 albums since last october.

  if i can't find what i want free to download, i look for the album on ebay then.

  rip it to my collection, the least i paid for an album on ebay was 35p, the most was 7 pounds.. i know there's always one or two people against this kind of thing, so one more thing, several of the worlds biggest players in the music industry made "record" profits last year.

  What musical instrument do you play?

  i spent many many years peforming on the cello before becoming a witness at 18 and being encouraged to quit all my symphony associations etc which i obediently did.

  i was a soloist once with a community symphony and it was a wonderful experience!

  i have a recording of the concerto i performed.

  Good, another cellist! I started on piano. I took up violin because my husband wanted company going to violin lessons. Then I bought myself a cello and have been loving it very much. I play in small ensembles and the local community orchestra. It's sure alot of fun.

  just stopping in to say hello....i see there is alot of new ones to the board and it did go on without me ..lol.... life has been very challenging for me as of lately but i am slowly getting it back together..... thank you all for your support, e-mails, letters, calls and words of encouragement ......   hello all - new here

  hello everyone, this is my first post.... i'm in the process of fading after being a jw my entire life (almost).

  i don't go to meetings anymore..... hubby's an elder, and boy, is he mad.

  he still makes the kids go with him to meetings, service, etc... they hate it and i feel sorry for them, but there's not much i can do about it.. i've been feeling lonely today, i do miss my friends sometimes, and i have really good friends, but since i don't go to meetings i never see them much anymore.

  A warm welcome to you, GoingGoingGone. Once we saw the WTS for what it was, we couldn't continue supporting it either. Eventually we wound up having nothing to say in our talks, to the brothers or at the doors. So we just quit! I feel sorry for your children.

  i've been friends with inarock&ahardplace (heretofore referred to as r&h because i'm breastfeeding and have to type with one hand) since we were small enough to bite your knees.

  she's the kindest, most caring person you'll ever meet and a little twisted at times so i think she'll fit in here nicely.

  she's been going through a hard time ever since she asked me, "so how are you doing in the truth?

  Welcome, inarock&ahardplace. It was the WTS lies that drove us away. Once we saw that it wasn't "the Truth", we could no longer support it.
