We just played for a wedding that was held in a church. The minister officiating didn't belong to the religion that owned the church. The church was rented and the people being married brought in their own minister. (I'm not even sure that they attended that persons' church or not, they just liked the vows by the sounds of it) The wedding was on New Years Eve (Sunday), so the congregation had their service in the auditorium so they wouldn't mess up the main sanctuary.
Does anyone know if this is common practise? We found it rather surprising. I've always thought of most religions as being rather territorial with their churches. Is this a new trend because of declining membership?
Anyway, Happy New Year!

Out in Service & Making Bark-Calls
by compound complex indear hounded by the hounds,.
when the dogs came rushing toward the two sisters out in service, the scaredy-cat sister got behind the other sister for protection.
her reason?

We never had any troubles with dogs. There were a couple of places where the dogs were unapproachable if they were tied up, but were fine when they were loose. And then there was the farm where they bred fighting dogs. I wouldn't have wanted any of those pitbulls running loose.
The most trouble that I remember from animals were a litter of kittens. They wouldn't keep away from the car and we were afraid of running them over. We finally had to put them all in the car and very slowly drive off, placing one kitten at a time out the door.
There was also a place that had goats running loose. They liked to jump on cars. Not very good for the body work.

My suicide attempt yesterday...
by Gregor injust when you think life could not possibly kick you in the teeth any worse something like james browns passing blind sides you.
after listening to "i feel good" several times, including a half hearted attempt to dance to it, i swallowed an entire package of m&ms and drank a half pint of brandy.
fortunately my wife found me in time and forced me to drink a scotch and soda.

Name Some JW "Double Standards"
by minimus inhere's one: you can't give blood but you can take a blood fraction (which someone else has to give).

The one that bugs me today is the double standard that love2Bworldly said. JWs won't gather with their families for a meal at Christmas time. But they'll gather with other JWs and have turkey dinner with all the trimmings on Christmas day.

Otherwise Engaged...
by LittleToe injust a little breaking news:.
after several years of a great friendship with diane (previously posted as xena) things have started to really come together recently and i've succumbed to making an honest woman of her (or at least as honest as it's possible to make her.
last night (xmas day) i popped the question and she agreed to marry me (i wonder if she knows what she's let herself in for!!!)..

They had their accounts suspended. They can no longer post there.
Ewatchman seems to do that every so often. It reminds me of the WTS witch hunts (apostate scares).

Leolaia,
Which poster over there did that? Whenever we check the posts on the Paradise Cafe, they all seem to be up on what's happening here. So you can probably expose that person by naming them here. I'm sure they'll all be checking this thread.
