religious arrogance spoils an otherwise lovely humanitarian story
by Scully ini normally delete on sight when i receive one of those mass emails that asks you to pass it along to everyone you know.
i guess there was something about the alleged author returning to school as an adult and having three children that sucked me into reading this one.. aside from the usual "pass this along and you'll have a miracle happen in your life" crap that often goes along with these messages, the story started out quite nicely.
all of a sudden, though, the author's self-righteous and arrogant attitude burst into the equation and made me want to puke.. breakfast at mcdonald's.

I really liked that little bit where she coughs up some cash AFTER she realizes everyone was watching her. And, I wonder why she didn't give the smelly homeless man a hug?

Did you ever get in trouble for....
by Fleshybirdfodder inreading the bible during the watchtower study when you should have been "paying attention"?
as a kid i constantly got repremanded for that.
guess even then i'd rather find out for myself.

I didn't get counselled for reading the bible when I should've been listening. But I remember feeling guilty for it. Guilt or not, I kept on with the practise. LOL It was far more interesting and kept me from falling asleep from boredom.

renting churches
by Cellist inwe just played for a wedding that was held in a church.
the minister officiating didn't belong to the religion that owned the church.
the church was rented and the people being married brought in their own minister.

That's very interesting. I don't know how the membership of this particular church is doing, but I know that one of the older mainstream churches in town folded this year and another is holding on by a very thin thread.
I think it's a very good idea, actually. We were just surprised.
