Actually, most of our experiences as JWs were positive. We were lucky and belonged to a couple of congregations that were full of very genuine people. It was very sad to watch the WTS slowly squeeze the life out of them.
The reason we left is because we discovered that the "Truth" was actually a fabrication.

Any positive experiences with the JWs?
by greendawn inwe all talk about our negative experiences with the jws and no doubt most were negative but weren't there any positive experiences with some of the few decent jws around?
i recall an old jw who was of the anointed and who was very benign, knowledgable, supportive and opposed to much that the dubs were doing especially the lack of love among the congregations.
also another very good natured dub who would always reward me whenever i gave him a little help with his business.

Show me the money
by onacruse inmany accusations are made, freely and (imho) frivolously tossed about, regarding the monetary motivations for various and sundry wts policy/publication decisions.
i have myself made many such statements.. however, if i was pressed to provide evidence for any of these accusations, i would be embarrassingly empty-handed.. interpolations, insinuations, circumstantial evidence, et.
al., aside: what irrefutable evidence is there that the wts has ever made a change simply and solely because of financial considerations?.

Onacruse, a few MEASLEY million? I'm going to hazard a guess that you aren't wealthy. LOL Remember the saying, take care of the pennies and the dollars will look after themselves.
I doubt if you'll ever get black and white evidence of who is getting the money and who is just enjoying the power of controlling a wealthy organization. In my opinion, if you really want to know where the money is going, you'd be better off looking at who's doing business WITH the WTS.

Today Is My Point of No Return - Or Is It?
by TheMan inalmost every night, i would get a phone call from my book study overseer, asking how i was, where i was.
whereas witnesses, when they experience hard times, stop going to meetings?
of course, my wife and i want to leave the witnesses, and i don't want to offend anyone in the process.

We quit meeting attendance cold turkey. Never DA'd or DF'd, just quit. Lots of excuses whenever they called, definitely never told them what we were thinking. Our source of income at that time depended on a few JWs.
So, if it was me feeling the way you do, I'd just completely quit meeting attendance. Don't worry about the baby showers, there's never an easy way of quitting the JWs. It's just going to get more stressful for the two of you from here on. You could wind up with health problems if you try to hang on too long.
Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

"Must We Always Tell The Truth?" WT Feb.1
by Cellist inif this has been brought up already, i apologize.
but, we just received the latest magazine with the title, "must we always tell the truth?".
i was curious to see how they handled this topic, with their "theocratic warfare" (aka lying) in mind.

OnTheWayOut, we used Theocratic Warfare when we were fading also. We didn't believe they had a right to the information they were asking for.
I reread the article and you're right. It implies Theocratic Warfare without actually condoning it. They've always been good at "doublespeak".

trumpet blasts of Revelation
by Cellist inwhen they did the "corrections" to the revelation - grand climax book, did they straighten out the order of the trumpets?
i actually never noticed while we were studying the book that a few of the trumpeters were antsy and sounded their trumpets prematurely.
it was a qfr that alerted us to another thing wrong with their interpretation.

When they did the "corrections" to the Revelation - Grand Climax book, did they straighten out the order of the trumpets? I actually never noticed while we were studying the book that a few of the trumpeters were antsy and sounded their trumpets prematurely.
It was a QFR that alerted us to another thing wrong with their interpretation. In the WT Apr.1, 1990 Question From Readers this is the order they give:
First to Fourth Trumpets "only started to be blown at the Cedar Point convention in 1922.
Fifth Trumpet "is related to the release in 1919 of God's people from the abyss"
Sixth Trumpet "began in 1922"
Seventh Trumpet "is linked to the birth of God's Kingdom in 1914"
So, according to the WTS, the seventh trumpet blew first, the fifth trumpet blew second, the sixth trumpet blew sometime around the same time as the first to fourth trumpets.

Wouldn't this article be useful in a court situation? To help show how their WTS sanctioned "theocratic warfare" works?
