I've known quite a few "anointed" of all ages and the vast majority didn't want to communicate with other "anointed". They viewed each other as competition.

A coup against the Watchtower?
by Dead Man Joaquin ini believe that if enough "anointed" get fed up with the hypocrisy of the leadership, a coup may be likely if not inevitable.. .
what i've been wondering is: how would such a scenario play out in real life?
i'm sure we can agree that all the organizational power ultimately rests in the hands of the eleven little men in brooklyn known collectively as the governing body.

The only mead I've made so far is a Ginger Metheglin. I used local honey. I'd have to look up the recipe to tell you the details. I can't remember if I used our well water or town (lake) water. I made it last year and haven't tried it yet.

Cold Weather Dress Code for Witnesses
by WTWizard inwith the advent of cooler weather (at least in canada and the northern us), one might think of how the witnesses are going to cope.
for certain, dress codes are going to have different effects now than they did when it was broiling hot.. men are going to be more comfortable now.
cooler weather means that the coat is not going to create as much heat stroke risk as it did in the heat of mid summer.

I was counseled once and only once about wearing pants in cold weather. The brother thought it wasn't cold enough to justify wearing pants. I asked him if he had long underwear under his wool pants. He said yes. I told him to quit being a hypocrite. I never bothered to disguise the fact that I was wearing pants, I didn't care what they thought.

We always wore pants in the winter. When it got really cold it was long underwear under wool pants time. In the coldest weather that was my attire to the meetings too. We had a long highway drive.

Vitty - First, let me apologize for not expressing myself more clearly. I was by no means advocating over-drinking and driving any more than I'm advocating talking while on a cell phone. Or indulging in any of the hundreds of other distractions that drivers can indulge in, including reading a road map or checking the gps. I have been one of the "there should be a law...." people all my life. Recently, I have been rethinking that, first off you can't make a law against everything that is unsafe. You can't even begin to. What's needed is to make people grow up and take responsibility for their actions. How to do that is a matter of debate.
As far as your comments to me personally, your statement: 'Don't you know the more you drink the more you think you can drive safely', is erroneous. In my youth (a few decades ago) I, like all my friends, drove while completely intoxicated (especially because it was illegal). I can assure you that we always knew that we were intoxicated. Your statement fits the condition of being human, not the condition of being drunk. Nearly every elderly person, sick person, cell phone user, donut eater, smoker, etc., etc., etc. will adamantly state that they are a safe driver regardless of their limitations or distractions.
I'm glad I don't live in your country which seems to be heading towards being a police state. I can't say that zero drinking while driving would be a "hardship". I view "hardship" to be something more like being unable to obtain food, healthcare, etc. But it would be a needless infringement on my enjoyment of life. Although, these days, I never have more than a glass of wine with dinner when I know I'm going to be driving, I feel that glass adds to my enjoyment. Since "taking a taxi" is economically unfeasible where we live, it would mean never being able to enjoy a drink with my friends.
In ending, you can't make a law against stupidity, which is at the heart of this whole problem. But this is simply my opinion, after observing humankind a little longer, who knows, I might change my mind. (But not about my wine with dinner) ;)

I understand where the law is coming from. It really irritates me watching people trying to navigate traffic while talking on the cell phone.
But ... I agree with Minimus. This type of law isn't the answer. Even the legal alcohol limits are wrong. If you drive while drunk and kill someone you should be charged with first degree murder, because you've knowingly endangered people's lives. But if you can drink a few glasses of wine with dinner and still drive safe, fine. The same with cell phone use, or putting on makeup, or fiddling with the radio, or myriads of other things that potentially makes someone an unsafe driver.
What we really, really need is for people to learn personal responsibility. And you'll never do it by treating people like small children. All that is accomplished is keeping the populace juvenile. If there isn't a law against it ... I can do it. It doesn't matter if it's wise or not.

You won't believe this: a KH turned into a church!!!
by observador inabout two years ago i posted here some pictures of a kingdom hall for sale.
that was quite something to me; had never seen something like it; never thought i would.
always thought that a progressive, ever increasing true religion would be always building and expanding, not selling.. but what wasn't my surprise when i passed by the other day and the damn hall had been sold; worse, the old, glorious hall had become a, gasp... a church!!.

In our area, two congregations merged and built a "quick-build" KH. One of the old KHs was sold to a Church, the other is a private residence.
Not only is this hypocrisy, it's also "indian-giving". These halls were "dedicated to the exclusive use of the most high God". So sacred that the information board couldn't be used to post Thank You cards or Wedding Invitations without the approval of the body of elders.
