i am ex pioneer, ex ministerial serpent not been near a kh in 6 years, smoke, drink had a live in gf until recently, but not dfd, so much for keeping the cong clean!
still, none of my "brothers" with a couple of exceptions, speaks to me now, their way of trying to win me back perhaps?
not that it'd work - i am happy now after 10 years of bs from people who ought to know better but don't

in my congregation, there is a well established group that does phone witnessing every thursday.
the society actually encourages us to try other avenues of ministry, however it seems like phone witnessing is hurting more than its helping.... even i, the covert apostate, don't mind phone witnessing.
i mean whats not to love?air conditioningfoodsitting around and talkinggirlsdid i mention food?.
I did plenty of phone witnessing. There were elderly "sisters" who had a hard time going door to door. This was about 15 years ago, before the internet was popular, so I even got to count time going down to the library. They had a book that listed the phone numbers by address. Lots of coffee, cookies and chatter.

we "faded" more than a decade ago.
at least, we began to fade.
it took a few years before they gave up on us.
jula, I was offline when the monkey and Jeannie let loose. But, boy, the fur would've really flown if I would've been here.
TS, I'm glad there's another cellist on board. I play in various mixed ensembles around town, so what I'm practising usually depends on what they're playing. Two pieces I'd love to be able to play are: Silent Woods by Dvorak and Concerto in G Major by Boccherini. Have you played the Brandenberg Conc.3? It's a fun ensemble piece.
Zanex, thanks for the welcome. This board's a great place.

Thank you, Frannie. After all we've been through, "demons" don't scare us one bit. We knew one elder who made them look like puppydogs. In fact, we had a few Dub relatives who made the demons look downright righteous.

Thanks for the welcome, love2Bworldly. I'm happy we left together too. It was hard enough, I can't imagine trying to do it alone. I have a lot of admiration for those that do.

Hello exjwms. You got smiles from this quarter. We have three singers in this house. Two treadle and one electric.

Brenda, we've been "addicted" for quite some time. Just now we'll have more fun with it. This is where we come for our daily dose of humor. It also helps us keep up on what the org has been up to. Hey Frannie, we read your story. We eagerly anticipated each new installment and were very glad that you managed to pull yourself out of your troubles. Delilah, thanks for the welcome. DY, family, close friends and work was our reason for fading. Otherwise we would've just told them all where to go. We knew it would be easier for everyone to think of us as "spiritually weak" rather than evil. Hopefully the org will collapse and everyone will be freed.

Hi DY, our fade was easy mentally and not so easy physically. It was rather tricky backing out of all our "privileges of service". I never did like that term, it always equalled unpaid labor in my mind. We were in a very nice congregation. Thankfully we had moved into a not very nice congo when it was time to leave. There were still some tears and frantic phone calls though. We felt bad for them, but there was nothing we could do. It was time to go. Couldn't stand another minute of it.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I see the monkey has been bad while we've been away. Helped along by Jeannie. exjwms, the only singer in this house is the sewing machine. Tijkmo, I know, cellos seem to be popping up everywhere. They really are a versatile instrument.
