how many of you have been on a collision course with the society because of what you have researched about them.
this is an inescapably situation for some, how about you?

.
can anyone confirm that the knowledge studies are still in use, and haven't had any recent major revisions (last couple of years).. i've written some analysis of these studies and wanted to make sure the source, knowedge that leads to everlasting life, is current.. .
thanks!
Welcome to the board, Trinitarian and Trace. Those were the two books they were using when I was there too, Trace.

Hi Jahs child. Welcome to the board.

the elders frown upon chewing gum at the kingdom hall and we have had a locals needs part where it was mentioned.
is/was chewing gum at your hall a no-no?
I don't recall any counsel or talks against chewing gum. I remember the problem of gum disposal though. We had counsel on where not to put your gum in at least one local needs talk.
We had one of those nail clippers too. He wasn't a brother, though. He was an UBM. So nobody ever corrected him.

i'm kinda looking for other born again christians that were "brainwashed" the way i was with the jw's!.
praise the lord i know the truth now!!!
would like to share with others what i have learned about the wtbts!
Hi Biddie,
I haven't seen that movie. I hadn't even heard of it. Mind you, I haven't been to the movie theatre for about a year. I'm looking forward to seeing the latest Harry Potter movie.
There's a wide range of people and opinions here, so it's not surprising that you've only been able to "click" with a few. I like the diversity, it helps me to "think outside the box" of my own experience.
Hope you're having a good evening. Cellist

Hi Biddie, I saw your hello on another thread and I didn't want to sidetrack that thread. We're doing fine. How was the movie the other night? Did you find a good one to watch? It looks as if you're settling in fine.

was just thinking about collaboratively writing a reasoning book around common jw errors.
anyone feel like adding/fixing some of this up?
what are some other common objections you've run up against?1914.
I think it's a great idea. But, is it possible to reason with a JW?

hi, i'm not a jw but i wanted to write about the few encounters i've had with people handing out the watchtower.
over here in the uk, it's something of a joke, the dreaded knock on the door and aargh!
it's the jehova's witnesses.
Hi, welcome to the board. I like your post. You've got the JWs pegged pretty good, but you're too late to convert most of us. I hope you post some more.

i am new to the board and am looking forward to many insightful discussions here.. a good friend of mine attends a congregation where sisters are working behind both the literature and magazine counters.
the brothers who were handling those responsibilities were removed because in the elder body's opinion, none of them were "exemplerary".police officer explained that save for the elders and a few of the ministerial servants, none of the men in the congregation were meeting the national average in field service time, so for the foreseeable future, "exemplerary".
the irony here though is that the same men who are unfit to handle the literature and magazine counters are qualified to offer opening and closing prayer for meetings and do reading for the watchtower study.
Hi EnlightenedCynic. Welcome to the board. Sounds strange alright.

i was reading sir82's thread on the recent elders' school and he mentioned them learning how to use the index in the new od book.
does anyone remember the elders' school in 1986 or 87 (i think) where the whole two days was spent learning how to use the new "watchtower publications index 1930 - 1985".
at that time i had the same reaction as sir82 just had .... duh!

It certainly didn't instill any confidence in elders. Especially when they came back from their school, proud of their new learning. In retrospect I'm wondering if they were pretending to be happy so that they wouldn't look ungrateful for their "food".
Do any former elders (or current) remember this school?
