  there was an article in one of our local newspapers.

  it's not a local happening, just some little tidbit that the editor used to fill space.

  it was entitled, "why go to church".

  Elders' School

  i was reading sir82's thread on the recent elders' school and he mentioned them learning how to use the index in the new od book.

  does anyone remember the elders' school in 1986 or 87 (i think) where the whole two days was spent learning how to use the new "watchtower publications index 1930 - 1985".

  at that time i had the same reaction as sir82 just had .... duh!

  does anyone remember the fad of not saying "amen" at the end of a prayer?

  i think it started in the late 80s.

  Armeggedon new light?

  an inactive, non-baptized person told my sister-in-law (faded, non-baptized) that the witnesses no longer believe that armeggedon is going be a world destruction.

  does anyone know where she would get this sort of idea from?

  this person is more in contact with active jws than we are.
