For what it's worth, the name of the ABC News Radio commentator who reported on it is Brad Wheeless. I looked all over the internet trying to get his email address but can't find a darned thing on him. Maybe someone with a bit more internet savvy than I can find it and email him to try to find out what the real deal is.

The only time I heard anything about this was on the ABC World News radio broadcast at 3:00 AM -- I work third shift. The commentator clearly stated that the man was "A Jehovah's Witness." Considering the JW folklore that has passed around for years about JWs being "protected" while out in field service, I wonder if the Society had this story quickly quashed/changed?

an article in the french's wikipedia has a problem.. we can't find a book or an academic article on the problem of jw and homosexuality, so some contributors of wikipedia thinks that our article is not an encyclopedic article.. you could find the controversy in french here.. if we can't find some academic research, it will be erased because we have only cited the jw literrature and some newspaper articles.. so could you help us.. thanks in advance.. charles.

You may want to try to obtain a copy of the book Jim by June Callwood. It's a Canadian book, out of print, but there were a few used copies available on Amazon. The book is about an early AIDS activist in Canada who was struggling with his homosexuality, his religion (JW), the relationship with his family, and the fact that he was dying from AIDS himself. It's a very sad book, but full of information you're looking for.

He and his band of ultra-religious windbags are a bunch of insane idiots. They picket everyone. They started by picketing gay parades. Now they picket Iraqi war veterans. I heard they're going to Lynchburg to picket Jerry Falwell now that he's died. Like I said, they're a bunch of nutcases.

How the Religious View Homosexuality

for people who are still religious, what are your views on gays?.

for me (an atheist) it goes against my own morality to think of them as sinners or somehow doing wrong, and yet in the bible it teaches that it is wrong.

it's one of the main reasons i could never go along with the jws.. i'm curious how religious people address this issue.
