  i did radio broadcast for about 20 years.

  whereas i am thinking of doing it again, i hope that it doesn't come down to it.

  we took a hard look and opted out for ethical and pragmatic reasons.

  though the issues share a common thread (child abuse), they have to be approached in different ways.

  Locks on Bethel Doors: True?

  i recall that it's been mentioned in passing here on a few threads that there are locks on the bethel rooms.

  this to me is significant, since when i was there in the sixties, there were none, and this wasa source of considerable pride in some circles.. can someone confirm, please?.

  during my day, they caught one bethel thief, a guy whose dad was a prominent circuit overseer who served in nyc at the time.

  i am watching what i think is the dumbest movie ever put on film,the quick and the dead.

  sharon stone (who i think looks great with no panties) absolutely sucked in this stupid movie.

  whats with the plot of this yawner,its been done a bit too much.she was terrible and gene hackman must have needed the money when he signed on to do this groaner..just my opinion and we all know what they about opinions...they are just like assholes, we all have them and they all stink...

  To each their own taste. I would consider the second-worst movie ever made - a close second behond "Amadeus" - to be "Gone With the Wind". It is one of the most tedious movies I've ever had the misfortune to sit through. Kind of reminded me of a drama at a District Convention.

  Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I certainly hope that all you Survivor fans take the program with a grain of salt.

  If you believe that the show is "for real", next time you watch it, ask yourselves why the camera crew (which is never seen) is dining on T-bone steaks with mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetables slathered in creamery butter whilst the "competitors" are busily munching away on cockroaches and rattlesnakes.

  Twelve step programs make mention of "God as we understood him" in some of the steps. That these programs allows for individuals to free-think their own belief in a Higher Power galls the WTBTS, which is why no positive mention is made of such programs in WT literature.

  Here's something else I found on Whittle:

  Apparently, he was the first African-American admitted to the University of Maryland back in the 1950's.

  Further research on him at http://www.inform.umd.edu/EdRes/Topic/Diversity/Response/UM/valuediv.html reveals the following:

  "In July, 1949, Mr. Hiram Whittle, an African-American student at Morgan State College, filed suit to be admitted to the University of Maryland at College Park to study engineering, a program then not available at his home institution. In January, 1951, the University's Board of Regents, acting on the advice of the State's Attorney General, voted to permit Whittle to become College Park's first African-American undergraduate. In the following year Whittle withdrew from the University and moved out of state."

  After reading this and examining his pro-JW web site, http://www.jehovahinfo.org/ I'm beginning to wonder if in fact he actually IS a space alien! Quick! Call the tabloids!
