  sex offender legislation passes house - now write your senator 11/8/2005 .

  update: bill passed in house - help make sure it becomes law by writing to your senator

  too many innocent children have been harmed and killed by convicted sex offenders who found ways to avoid the very system used to "track" them.

  My conversation with an elder

  well this happened to me a few weeks ago, but i chose to post it later because i'm paranoid.

  anyway, i was riding in field service with an elder and our conversation turned to apostasy.

  well, he turned it to apostasy because he usually dominates 99% of the conversations we have.but i digress, this is how our conversation went.

  Do you know where the report was made?

  With your written authorization to the police force there, they will provide you a copy of the report.

  Include his full name, DOB, and any other identifying numbers and dates.

  Send it certified mail (not required, but helpful).

  Some departments have specific forms required to receive records.

  You can call ahead to the department and ask if they require a specific form.

  A challenge:

  I will make available to you redacted copies of police reports and conviction records of perpetrators and witness statements of victims from JW congregations.

  At present I have over 2200 statements and police reports.

  If you can read them and retain your (uneducated) premise, or are able to provide contradicting statements or evidence, i will leave you peacefully reposed in your denial.

  mandatory reporting of sexual abuse

  when it comes to the reporting of child abuse in the jehovahs witness community and regarding some other clergy in general, some have taken statements silentlambs.org has made out of context to make it appear there is a contradiction in how silentlambs views the issue of reporting child molestation, whether an attempt out of ignorance or done intentionally remains to be seen.

  the fact is in all fifty states it is mandatory to report child molestation.

  State reporting requirements apply to ANY adult with a 'suspicion' of child abuse, not just parents. Sadly, many parents will not or do not report abuse due to the mistaken notion that the child, if not babbling or bleeding, must be 'okay'.
