  Am I being dumb?

  i really and truly believe that my father did not abuse either of my two younger sisters, just me.

  my one sister was abused by my brother, which makes me think he was abused so as to act like that.. i left the jw's after finding he could get responsibilities again and because i realised that i would always be viewed as bad association no matter how hard i tried because i just didn't fit in.. i never wanted to take it any further than the congregation because i did not want to rip my family apart.. but if i had a child i would not let him alone with them.. can someone just abuse one victim (maybe two if my bro was abused as i think he was)?

  or do they always abuse more?.

  Some offenders are 'situational offenders', who do not necessarily PREFER a child as a sexual partner, and would perhaps prefer an age appropriate partner, but instead accept a child as a sexual partner because the child is available, and situational stressors (financial/relational/psychological/physical) exist.

  It is possible this describes your situation.

  That said, most child molesters have an 'age and sex of preference', and choose children to molest who fit their preference.

  Perhaps you were his preference, and your sister was not.

  This information comes from expert medical studies..

  Can the Elders Be Prosecuted for Covering it up?

  ok i got to thinking, the elders cover up and do not report allegations of child molestation and if they know of a known molester amongst them they do not warn the cong, correct me if i am wrong but isn't that a crime?

  sexual offenders are supposed to stay away from areas were child ren congregate, such as a playground, school, library etc.... jessica lunsfords neighbor was charged with harbouring a pedo, (he was not registered at her home) isn't that the same thing the elders are doing?.

  anyone care to enlighten me?.

  Almost all states have a reporting requirement, and criminal penalties if the report is not made, but few district attorneys actually prosecute these cases.

  Generally, the 'failure to report' isn't even known until years later.

  As well, some religious orgs, including WTS, parse words related to 'clergy privilege'; whether 'clergy' are required to report abuse revealed to them in the course of spiritual counsel.

  In any case, no parent should EVER be told he/she SHOULD NOT report, and this is a common fact pattern in the JW cases I have reviewed.

  Likewise, OF COURSE no man or woman who has been accused of sexual abuse should ever hold a position of authority in an organization. Parents believe those who 'wear the banner' of an org are 'safe' for their kids. This, in my opinion, in the primary sin of the WTS org; keeping perps around kids, with an ostensible 'seal of approval' from the org...

  What if you put an envelope in the box- "For the Lawsuits" ?

  another thread made a similar suggestion, so i thought what if....?.

  what would happen if you put an envelope in the donation box with a check, and on the .

  envelope (also on the comments portion of the check) it said "for the child-abuse lawsuits".

  after spending 2.5 hrs on the phone with a lifelong friend whom i had not been in touch with for several years, she revealed to me that she too had been molested in the 70's by my uncle; s.m., a well known elder at the time.

  he began his career in sexual deviance while living on staten island ny in the early 60's.

  he moved to plymouth nc in the early 70's while married to my young aunt linda.

  What happened was NOT your fault or shame, it was a wrong act on the part of an ADULT.

  You experienced a normal physiological response in a healthy body.

  You didn't do wrong, the ADULT did.

  Please know that no shame or blame rightly falls at your feet.

  If you haven't gotten counseling about this issue, talking about it, tho' scarey and uncomfortable, will help immensely, in the big picture. Please consider this..

  over a month ago, amw filmed several of rick mclean's victims who were victimized while he served in authority in a number of jw congregations in and around san diego, california.. .

  mclean found victims thru his involvement in jw congregations, and kept many quiet for years by intimidation/ 'no one will believe you'.. .

  the episode is 'in the can', and mclean, who fled when he learned he would be arrested, is on the loose.you can bet he is molesting some child presently; he is a lifetime molester.. .
