I heard a story once about Knorr. Apparently he was out in service and someone made the comment saying to the effect " your just out making your higher ups rich" Something like that. Then Knorr supposedly said " May I introduce myself I'm Nathan Knorr president of the WTS!" AHHHH silence. Has anyone heard this before? Just curious Marie P.S. Everyone puts them on a pedestal.Myself being guilty as charged at one time.

Which was scarier... the torture scenario or the Armageddon scenario?
by Gopher infor those of us who grew up in the jw's, there were a couple of scary scenarios presented, one supposedly to happen before armageddon, and armageddon itself.. before armageddon, all jw's were going to be chased around by worldly nations because they would be the only religion left on earth, satan's system having destroyed "babylon the great" (all religions outside jw's, we were told).
so as part of that, jw's would be persecuted worldwide for being religious and proclaiming the "kingdom".. now -- connect that with the actual persecution that happened to the jw's as documented in the annual "yearbook" and in the pages of the watchtower magazine.
sometimes the details of what happened to jw's when in confinement were quite graphic and frightening.

I was raised a JW. I really don't remember being overly frightened. I guess how could I be anymore afraid I had such a abusive stepdad. I was more afraid of him. I always felt Jehovah would help me and protect me. Hopefully from him someday! Marie

It was so nice of you to take care of your Father like you did. Sometimes older ones do better in a home around people their own age.
I have worked in nursing homes and it is amazing how the women really move in on a single hot man!!!!! He'll probably have the time of his life with all that attention. The nurses even really baby the older guys. It is so cute. Enjoy your freedom!!! Marie =^..^=

Lame?????? That's an interesting analogy from someone who probably thinks sitting around at a congregation picnic singing kingdom melodies is a good time, and spitirually refreshing. You probably will do anything the Society asks you to (except for coming on this site.) By the way, have you read this weeks Watchtower lesson??.... Maybe you should.! I did, and I think the part about not listening to lies and deception apply perfectly to the Society. Think about it.
Marie.

Passing the time at JW Assemblies
by Leolaia inlove_truth, in describing the utter dullness of jw assemblies and conventions, just gave me an interesting idea for a thread.
what were some of the ways you tried to make the hours pass?
some of mine: looking at the interesting refracting patterns the arena floodlights made on my eyeglasses when looking thru them at an angle.looking for people i knew from my congregation and others in the mass of people in the arena.counting the number of people leaving the section to go to the bathroompractice writing people's names in elvish scripthaving a conversation with friends a row behind me by passing notes back and forthseeing how many pages of my bible stick together when i slam a wad of gum in between its pages.. what else?
