I used to love it when we were kids riding in the backseat of the big old black cadillac and the brother driving had a habitual spitting condition - we would bet each other whether or not his big wad that he'd spit out his window, would come back in our window and smack us in the face!

when i was new witness in the late 70's i was assigned to young couples new home.

we were required to park our shoes inside the back door and proceed in our socks to the front room...fine.

the other piece to this was the couple hosting study had a big male blood hound dog of some kind.

SHEEP and GOATS DID IT CHANGE?

am i right in thinking that about 1995 the teaching on the "sheep and goats" of matt 25 changed.. i vaguely remember that pre-1995 it used to regarded that the sheep and goats were judged on how they received the preaching work.

then post-1995 it changed to that jesus would judge them when he came at armageddon.. can anyone tell if this is right.

it always bothered me as jw, just how little social and global responsibility we felt responsible for.

We spent a SATURDAY morning once with our young children - OMG - painting pictures of ducks and whales on the city's curbs at the storm drain areas - with the words, "We live downstream, don't pollute!" .....and the whole time looking over our shoulders to see if one's out in service would see us and stone us to death or something!

When I was young, I dreaded going to the bookstudy - living in snow country and knowing when I got there I had to take my snowboots off. I mean, of course I knew I wasn't going to sit in their living room with those boots on, but... my feet sweated so bad in those boots that I really felt like I needed to go in their bathroom and wash my feet. Usually I brought an extra pair of socks with me to put on over top of the others when I removed my boots, thinking that the LAYERS of socks might contain the odor of my sweaty feet! Lo and behold, somewhere along the line, we discovered the cause of my feet's problems -- I was allergic to ORLON and that is what all of my knee socks were made of.

Next, we moved to a HOT state ... and at the study, of course, shoes were parked at the door - wearing sandals and removing them, there I now stood with absolutely BARE FEET. I was so self conscious to sit in this crowded room with my feet exposed to all - actually, my feet are my greatest asset as I have been told by many that I have great looking feet, toes - but all I could think of was, these brothers were checking out my feet! I know, sounds wierd but............

I WAS THRILLED WHEN MY KIDS WERE COLICKY AND I COULD GO HIDE IN THE BEDROOM FOR THE HOUR!

That's also the rationale behind some suicides - as I've posted before, the mother who told her daughter, "I'd rather you do commit suicide than leave the org." She felt the daughter would have a better chance of getting in that new order if she just followed through with her already suicidal intent because, she'd have no chance (JW mindset) if she left the org now.

i'm sorry i just had to post this.

i'm sitting reading all the post on the tv shows and movies we weren't allowed to watch.

i am now completely hysterical laughing out loud at how insane this all was.

At a tender age I was told about the person who woke up in the night and found they were floating several feet above their bed - fearing the "cause" they hollered out, "JEHOVAH", and came crashing down. The next day, the brothers, not yet called elders, came over and having found books in the home that dealt with some "unchristian" theme went outside to burn them, AND THEY WOULDN'T BURN.

I too was considered to be demonized when my fade began a little more than a year ago.
