  Did you know of any JWs fighting in the Kingdom Hall or arguing in the KH?

  this might sound funny but i have heard many stories of jw's fighting in the kh bathroom or arguing.

  i remember an elder's wife who was having alot of medical problems cursed out another sister in the bathroom.

  she called her everything but the kitchen sink i was told by another sister that was in the bathroom when this altercation took place.

  I knew a young brother that was murdered in the parking lot as he sat in his truck before the Sunday meeting and it was another brother twice his age, that shot him.

  they will not give up!!

  i live a ways away from my old congregation and i work with a couple of active witnesses who know i'm inactive.

  so, i've been bombarded with phone calls and asked by my co-workers to go to the memorial.

  ah yes, same day invites....that's what we got last year....informed the elder what we thought of it..... giving bright , full moon reasons why they wouldn't see us there.

  Hmmm....no one came by this year, guess we made our points.

  you have a limited amount of time to give to the training of your mind.

  if you consume all of that time with worldly reading, radio entertainment, television, etc., and thinking on earthly things, you are wasting time that can be used to build up a protective barrier against the darts of the enemy.. .

  Thank you so much for all the quotes from the literature of the 50's.

  As a youngster, when we finally got our first t.v., my father, newly converted dub, would constantly threaten to "take the axe" to the t.v. when we kids would be watching the limited amount of shows we watched consisting of "Lassie", "The Donna Reed Show" and " Wild Kingdom". I always wondered where he had acquired such an adamant view of television back in those early days!

  I often wonder who my parents would have truly been, without the WTS determining their personalities.

  apostate literature - i have read the lot.

  you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.

  and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.

  What is wrong with me?

  Don't discount that emotional problems are a real possibility. The day my jw dad killed himself over his own "emotional problems" that he'd recently admitted having, an elder from his congregation told me that I have actually been emotionally abused for much of my life being raised in the "way of life" by a zealot parent. Anyone living jw life is emotionally abused. It can't be avoided in the cult.

  My suggestion to you is to seek cognitive behavioral therapy - you examine your core beliefs and learn how you have been affected by them and how to move forward. Reading up on religious addiction and spiritual abuse may help you too.

  Do some WT phrases make you squirm?

  for me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.

  i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.

  fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

  my wife is getting baptized on the 19th.. i wrote her a letter today.

  basically i asked her why she isn't coming to me to find out my concerns.

  i am the person who has the most invested in her.

  Trying to find an old picture

  i wonder if anyone can remember a drawing, i think it was in the old children book (pink/orange hard cover if i remember correctly), of babies being offered up as sacrifies to a false god.

  the god looked like a huge chair/alter with flames ( i think) and horns.. .
