You love your mother. Do not disrespect her.
In reference to that comment, I fail to see how talking to your mother would be disrespecting her.
You could explain to her that she will be much happier in her own existence if she accepts the fact that you are a human being with your own thinking ability and separated from her at the time of birth, fully prepared to go through life using your own brain. Does she believe we are to judge one another for doing so?
Loving a person, is allowing them to be who they are.
Enjoy the time together

Just venting.....
by swiftbreeze inmy sister wrote me a letter telling me how she's going to all her meetings.
she has two personal bible studies a week, goes to two book studies a week plus all the other meetings.
first of all my sister was a drug addict.

swiftbreeze,
The first book I read at my time of exiting from lifetime dubdumb was, "WHEN GOD BECOMES A DRUG, (breaking the chains of religious addiction and abuse) ", by Father Leo Booth.
I'm sure you'd really relate to it's thoughts.
Yes indeed, your sis is certainly still getting her FIX!
When my dad was suicidal, the elders sat there," shooting him up", all under the guise of "encouragement".
He checked out a few months later while in the trance-like state of JW life.

Whose famous autograph do you have in your possession...

I actually stood in line for 4 hours to get Shirley Temple's autograph. I read somewhere she doesn't sign anymore because of all the autograph sellers on the Internet.
TresHappy,
A repressed memory springs up......
When I was a young girl in the 60's, I was in a Shirley Temple fan club, and I would receive autographed 8 x10, black & white glossy photos of her, in the mail, shots from her different movies and had quite a collection. Although it was "idolizing" someone..... my mom had allowed me to have them, (she liked her too), but....at a point in time, the axe came down, and they were tossed in the garbage.

I loved getting to the games early enough to watch batting practice.
FlyingHigh,
I agree... we would always get there two hours early. It was so exciting, wasn't it? I tell my sons now, that all the balls we collected and had autographed, CASH them in one day when I die, and you may be set for life.
One time, I was leaning so far over the rail to catch a foul ball during batting practice, that I fell down about 8 feet- face first into the ground, and had to be taken away on a stretcher to the hospital in an ambulance. Talk about embarrassed......all the players came over to see if I was alright, Florida Marlins on the field at the time. I ended up not getting back to the ball park until the 7th inning stretch! I was able to work a deal though for several free tickets to future games - and, I did get the ball I was going for at the time.

Baseball fans will relate to the names, to name a few:Tony Gwynn
Trevor Hoffman
Ricky Henderson
Ken Caminiti .... May he RIP, best third baseman ever! .... Signed ball and bat.
Fred McGriff
Gary Sheffield
Tony Fernandez
John Smoltz
Dale Murphy
Entire Atlanta Braves team on a ball, early 90's
I will never regret, that despite the "counsel" to not attend worldly competitive sporting events, my husband and I took our young sons regularly to major leaque baseball games (even missing a meeting here and there, gasp! ) - and had the time of our lives, making memories together, collecting autographs, meeting players, catching foul balls, getting on ESPN and the local news with our home made signs, and chowing down taquitos and peanuts.

List of things banned to JWs
by AllAlongTheWatchtower inmy wife is involved with jws, and i want to find out what they believe, things they do or will not do, that i can present to her in the hope that it will convince her that the jw lifestyle is not for her.
i found out a few things already, like blood and yoga which i told her about, but she was unphased.
("i've never needed a transfusion before anyway, and besides, they told me that doctors have blood substitute now".

As a Jdub, don't even think of getting involved in community endeavors or environmental issues as there is no time or valid reason for doing so in the jw mindset. Don't think about planting a tree on EARTH DAY, or even in the memory of a lost loved one.All of earth's ills will be cured when the "new system" comes, so we don't need to spend time in cleaning up the beaches, hugging trees, or saving whales.
During 40 years, I never threw my coins in to any of the donation banks at the checkout counters for medical causes/research etc. What was the use? Only god will have the cure.

WTS Recognizes that Millions have Left the Faith
by Bluegrass Tom inat the portland maine district convention that was held this past weekend, brother buck from brooklyn bethel gave the last talk on sunday.
in this talk he mentioned the "millions of people that have left" in the recent past.
he also mentioned them in the concluding prayer.

The bethel guy prayed that we would not fall away as so many had, and become carcasses strewn along the road to everlasting life.
butt, butt, brothers......the new light shines in 2005:
"we pray that these millions solidify their faith and reject the influence of the scummy dross on the slag heap of destruction." http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/91529/1.ashx - see paragraph 11
